1k points with GSC for first game

Hello. So I have my first game with Tyranids coming up in 2 days so i wrote a 1000 point list to use the models I have. ( Still waiting on another flyrant and the rest of my LAN to arrive. I think I'll be facing necrons. Anyways as usual I love to read CC so thanks in advance.

Nice, have you had any luck using the GSC before? Which units were the most effective?

I'd say none going by the 'first game with Tyranids' bit . From my whole 2 games, acolytes are pretty decent cheap cc units, and purestrains are annoying objective grabbers who can't do much else. Haven't tried the formation, and almost certainly never will - I was quite leery of it to start, and the new FAQ kills it for me. Combine that with the fact that I can field a CAD for way less (both money and points), and why would I bother?

As to the list - looks good. Actually a sort of good list to face crons, I think - they have no obsec if they take the Decurion, and only a few mobile units. The acolytes, rippers and purestrain are good to outscore them. Acolytes+patty might have a chance of sweeping, but crons are quite durable, with a high ld. Otherwise very durable, especially in the Decurion (4++ rerolling 1s after a 3+, 2+ on characters?), so flyrant/mawloc are likely going to have issues making appreciable dents in their army.
My last game against crons, I killed basically nothing (and so did he - ended up doing 3 wounds to a fex and killing some purestrains, acolytes and rippers), but dominated on objectives. He did roll bad for the maelstrom (and the mission did favour me), but for the entirety of the game I controlled at least 3 objectives, often 4+.

Ya the game was postponed but that was my thinking. Since he runs a boat load of wraiths that are a pain, I was just going to try and outscore him.

And ya I have no interest in running the formation but the acolytes seem pretty darn solid and ghosar as well. Plus adds a cool element to the army even if the are not BB for some ridiculous reason....
