How to synergize Gnenesteaker cult with codex/formations

Hello Hive!

I would like to ask what have you been testing for you tournament 1500 and 1850 lists using GC formation??

I think telepathy would work well with a deathleaper assassin brood, but few points would be left for Flyrants and Mawlocs.

What says the HIVEMIND??

Skyblight, Living Artillery and the Broodkin Cult fit perfectly into 1850 and should give you a lot to play with. You could swap Living Artillery for an Assassin Brood and still be almost dead-on with the points. Depends on what sort of opposition you are expecting...

Skyblight and LAN don't work well together, especially with GSC - one needs synapse, neither has much synapse. One's airborne and mobile, the other's very...not.

Skyblight, DAB and GSC could work decently though.

As to the OP - I haven't been testing anything, but flyrants+mawlocs seem to be the go to, though kwodd did do something with DAB (more to do with the MSU objective grabbing and harassing synergy with GSC than telepathy shenanigans, which is situational at best) and deviousdonut used it and the Hive Fleet Vanguard formation recently, and did quite well with it (there's a thread around) - can't remember what else he took though, probably just more flyrants, maybe mawlocs, though I have a feeling there was something else in there.

Have a look at the stuff by kwodd, bigpig and deviousdonut I'd say for some ideas on lists and uses.

Gah, that formatting! Skyblight+sporefield+GSC? Should work decently for board control, but you're lacking in punch I think, and the entire thing's very vulnerable if you don't go first (especially skyblight with no shrouded support).

Edit: Triple sporefield would be really annoying to fight against there.

How about something along the lines of:

GSC + Manufactorum Genestealers x 3 (so 3 groups of 5 x 5) + 2 x Sporefield.

Saturate the board with 18,000,000 MSU squads, most of whom have H&R and can infiltrate very close, and just blenderize 'em.

If we take it to 1850 and drop the ESG on the second Tyrant, we can fit one in there.

I'm expecting the cult and deep-striking gargoyles to be pretty effective at softening and distracting the enemy while my tyrant swoops in to do the heavy lifting.

Since they are battle brothers... Why not go with this:
GSC formation.
Broodlord hunter pack formation. Thats a 3 group formation where in one of them has a broodlord. MSU 1 of the groups, but make the one with the broodlord as big as possible. (20 genestealers and broodlord). And then make another big one.
Now...fill up the blanks with as many genestealer manufactorum formations as possible.

And finally... since they are battle brothers... Put the magus in the group with 20 and the broodlord. And put the primus in another big genestealer group. That way... they all get shrouded and stealth in the first turn. And if they hit, they hit like a battering ram. I'd really like to see anything able to hold its ground against a unit that can bust out 80 rending blows , with rerolls to hit.

If you use the smaller units to catch the "overwatch" fire , then your main units get pretty save into combat. At least...thats what I'm gonna try as soon as I have enough genestealers :-)

you could do this. if you go first and don't get seized on and your opponent is derp, it might do something. but if not, you have a very large and expensive and vulnerable unit of genestealers to get shot up and lost before it does anything. if this worked on a regular basis, you could just take genestealers all day long and everyone would be all 'thumbs up!' for them. that's just not the case here.
