Friend selling Warhammer, should I buy or not?

So a friend of mine who has been into 40k a few years has decided not to play anymore and is selling his stuff for money for his Jeep hobby. He never really had fun (sadly to say but true was down right terrible at the game) so I figured I could pick it up on the cheap, repair it and paint it, tweek the list a bit. This will give me a new army to play and if he ever comes back into the game he cause re-buy his army to me. Slightly funny thing, half of the stuff he has he bought from me first like 2 years ago, so we just keep buying and re-buying the same models

Anyway his army is mostly Slaanesh Chaos space marines with a little bit of Tzeentch and Daemons too. He has roughly:

Daemon prince, Abbadon, Lucious, 2 Sorcerers, 2-3 lords, 2 full sonic noise squads, 1 full Thousands sons, 2 units of generic chaos, 2 units of havocs, 10 chosen, 5 Rhinos, 2 predators, land raider, 3 Hellbrutes, 9 obliterators, Helldrake, 10 terminators, and a box full of assorted others.

Now he is asking $300 for it which seems like a great deal to me. So what do you guys think? Buy it fix it and use it and sell it back down the road if he wants it? Or should he sell it off piecemeal to whoever asks?

If you want it, buy it. Not a very competitive list. Not a bad deal, but you can do the same on ebay if you buy a whole army. IDK, do you want to play that army? The oblits, rhinos, predators, heldrake and thousand sun are good, but the rest are gonna struggle. You really need some cultists.

I would go for it for the noise marines, daemons, helldrake, terminators, oblits, and land raider mostly. If you have any interest in getting Chaos space marines, this is a decent start.

I would not buy it. You are just sinking yourself deeper and deeper into the GW hole. Now if you don't care that much about the poor quality of the game rules or GW shenanigans, have money to waste and like the units, than buy them if they are a good deal. Only you can make that decision.

Yeah, this would take a very large surplus of what is already a $-sink. If you like the models or need an extra army for friends wanting to try out the game without investing, then go for it. As you guys already buy-back from each other, then that might make it another good point. Perhaps you could get it and then sell, piece-meal, the good parts and keep the extras for my previous point. But, and I prequisite this by saying that I have a daemon bundle of about the same points, even with them being the second coolest models after tyranids, that is one army that I would have told myself 10 years ago not to get into.

Let him sell them, it doesn't sound like he'll be back. It happens. Also, I've had some great times 4x4ing! Play one last big game vs him, then hit the hills for a good-bye weekend.
