Should a Trygon Prime be a HQ?

I've been wondering, should the Trygon Prime actually go in HQ slot rather than its current one?

It to me seems to have the qualities of an HQ with its synapse and its access to Bio Artifacts.

I feel that it has as much of a claim to be there as the Tervigon and Tyranid Prime does.

What would be the pros and cons of it being an HQ (apart from it looking really cool)?

I think pre-release the leaks had it as hq.

It would be a nice alternative to Deathleaper in a vanguard/tunnelers list though.

I think it should be an HQ. I think the Deathleaper and Old One Eye, if left as HQs, should have a 6" Synapse Range and I'd like to see a rule that says 1 unit of Carnifexes can be taken as a Troop Choice. Now the unit of Caranfiexes must have at least 2 Carnifexes and the only upgrades allowed for the unit would be Bioplasma and/or Frag Spines.

I remember reading that in the rumors. Would have just been another wasted slot though. 240ish buys a lot in other armies. Can you imagine trying to convince yourself that you want one instead of a Flyrant too? This is my guess as to why it never did if it ever was supposed to originally. After their 5th edition Tryhard shine the MawRocK took over so why push the Prime?

Yeah, I don't know about trygon prime as an HQ. I would have liked to see the trygon and trygon prime move faster and since superheavies are part of the game maybe give it extra strength vs MC and superheavies (obviously would have to be worked out to not be OP). Give it something to make it a worthwhile unit to take and to give us options to deal with the bigger things.

Nah, there's synapse in every battlefield role, and the Trygon Prime is it for Heavy Support.

I think so, although they need a buff in either case.

Trygon Primes should be our frontline/combat general. Tyrants and Tervs are there for psychic support and buffing the army, and I think the Hive would be smart enough to realize that if its going to have a leader on the front lines it should be a leader capable of holding its own instead of just using devourers or getting squashed. The Trygon Prime fits this role perfectly.

I'd like to see them in the HQ slot. OOE could be the heavy spot, but so much about that kitten needs to be fixed first. The trygon prime could be the tunnel/DS HQ representative, and if left alone stat wise would not make a splash at all. Just would be nice to see it there. Bio-artifact access is a great point, but w/o making it an even bigger point sink then it would already have point-cost itself out of usefulness. We need so many minor buffs/tweaks or point reductions to make some of these cooler models worth while. But, I think they had their day in the sun and now GW needs to push the next big-shiny.

No. Mostly because Tyranids need their own FOC that isn't based around a marines FOC

Careful... They'll churn out something along the lines of "can only have one MC for every 300 points of infantry"

As for trygon... If units could charge from his tunnel he'd deserve HQ status, but at present, no.

I'd be ok with that if they made the FOC slots more like the Skytyrant formation... the unit of infantry is part of the MC's unit and the MC can make LOS rolls on 2+ or hell just make it a 1+. You'd think the Hive Mind would have evolved a truly ablative armor by now. Sacrifice the little gribblies to soak up all incoming fire so that the heavy hitters can make it to the enemy...

Who cares where a shelf-warmer goes? Unless it gets better rules, it can be put in the Only-On-Mondays slot, for all I care.

I want an "Only-On-Mondays" slot for a unit that is totally OP! Put one in each codex. Make them broken as hell. It won't affect tournament play, so who cares. It would be really funny.

There is a CCG that had cards printed that said on the card "can not be used in a deck after ... " (had a specific month/year printed on each one)

Seeing the new Dunestrider rules for the Ad-Mech gives me hope that down the road, GW will start to adjust the movement speeds of more Tyranid Bugs like this walker.

For those that don't know, the Dunestrider & it's dual kit counterpart, get an extra 3" movement in each phase. Move, Run & Assault.

Also, Harlequins getting the old school fleet, also gives hope. If these two rules don't somehow destroy everything Warhammer 40k has build (Kidding) then we might get to see more of them when our book comes back through.

If Genestealer Cults is true, then our first opportunity would be then. [fingers crossed]
