How many of you are using Tyrannocytes as gunships?

Just asking around peeps - how many of you are using tyrannocytes to just float around and shoot people, or are using it more for that purpose than to really transport things (e.g. you have way more Tyrannocytes than things to drop)?

How well is that working out overall?

At first I wasn't really interested in this idea. After giving it some thought.. isn't it completely viable to spam tyrannocytes? given they aren't included as part of your heavy support restrictions, how many can one actually play? If there's really no restriction to the number you can play, you could practically use up to 15 pods in a 1500 point game. that's a lot of MCs. granted they wont really get to shoot but if your opponent can't handle getting rid of them and they just sit around objectives then isn't it possible to win via objectives?

I have 3 and tbh I find they don't do much ( appart from their actual purpose ). I don't tend to use all 3 in every game either, they are either not needed or they are sporocysts ( which I originally thought "what's the point" until I play tested them ) now I use them as a default in 90% of my lists. So to answer your question mate, no they are just drop pods for me

There are some people in my area who do this, and one guy does have a few Tyrannocytes with FIVE venom cannons. Doesn't carry anything. I do wonder if that would actually work; it sounds like it would be really great for breaking up mobs.

100pt distraction unit dropping a mess of blast templates in your opponent's backfield? Interesting. You could even put a suicide unit in it. Pyrovores?

I use 8 with Deathspitters as transports and a big part of my offensive output.

I use them for two purposes. One to drop in any unit or units needed to face the army I'm playing against. Two to block line of sight so that the units don't get shot up before I get to use them fully. As far as shooting goes venom cannons are not bad. Though with BS of 2 it won't do too much. If u are lucky ur opponent will spend a turn shooting or assaulting it. In which case is fine with me, the unit had already did its main purpose. A experience opponent will just ignore it if plausible.
