Favourite Shield of Baal fluff!

I don’t know about you guys, but the lore behind Tyranids was why I fell in love with them. I take every opportunity to get my fill, so when Shield of Baal dropped I was pretty giddy to hear that we’d be getting two hardcover books full of fluff. I just finished reading Exterminatus and holy heck balls I’m so impressed. I’d love to get The Hive’s impression of these books.

I know there’s been people saying it’s frustrating always having ‘Nid’s lose. But personally Shield of Baal is nothing but a crushing Tyranid victory and it’s amazing. Six different armies couldn’t win, hold back, or some cases even retreat against a single tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan. The lasting impression for me is how utterly doomed the galaxy is against ‘Nids. I love it, absolutely love it. It’s also made me want to get into Blood Angels  Something about the Sanguinor speaking for the first time in recorded history got me all giddy. Even Demi-gods fear ‘Nids. My favourite part is still the part where the Hive Mind kills the entire Vostroyen armored corp with “lol poison fog”.

What’s all of your favourite fluff parts from the series?

I wish I could get Exterminatus. I missed it. I still haven't read all of Leviathan yet but this is great to know, that I need to get Exterminatus even though it has no new rules for Nids. I like the fluff as well.

Do you recommend me getting the Hard Cover if I can find a copy or get the iPad interactive version? Will call my gaming store to see if they have a copy yet still.

I still have to get my hands on the novels or exterminatus but the fluff in the first part evoked some awesome images
From the descriptions of the hive fleets rampaging trough the aegis diamando and coiling around planets to deathleaper briefly appearing on the screens behind Magda grace or the totallynot-old one eye resurrecting endlessly to chew trough void shield generators
But my favourite moment was when the psykers broods were dropped during the cityfight
There's that quid that I can't help to love when along the description of the inexorable advance of the screaming broods there's also the psychological element posed by those silently intelligent horrors reminding of the malicious consciousness behind the swarm

Also forgot to mention, since you love the fluff, are you going to get the Tyranid painting guide? Someone said they have a bit of fluff in there as well, not just a painting guide.

Yeah I got the painting guide... cus you know... why not? The mini stories are pretty awesome and who ever this artist that is making these lifelike 'Nids.. I want to kiss his feet. The little bit about the Snotling in the airship spitting on the 'Nids below only to have a Flyrant come say hi is pretty funny.

Also the Guardsman who commits suicide rather than face a Broodlord. Awesome.

The artwork is unreal eh? The Hierophant/C'Tan fight, Psycic Brood, and all the awesome new nid Portraits.

Would this be a good spot to inventory all the fluff like Core has done with the units/formations?

Even could include the novels from BL. I've only ever read "for the greater good," but I know there must be more.

So true! The fluff vs. The actual game rules is so far off. If this book came out before the models/rules then I could easily be swayed to want to purchase and play these "uber" Psykers...
