2000 point list using a Toxicrene

Here is a new 2000 point list I am going to try once I get my hands on a Toxicrene!

I'd trim some upgrades for a gargoyle screen for those MCs I think. The gants won't be able to keep up with all of them when strung out hitting every bit of terrain.

Do you need 5 warriors? Do they need the deathspitters? Do you need the Norn Crown when you have the Malanthrope as well? You'll know better than me as it's your army.

You makes some good points Jabberwocky thanks for the reply. My reasoning for the Norn Crown was since I only have 4 synapse creatures, one of which I play aggressively (the Hive Tyrant) that typically leaves just the 3 synapse creatures supporting most of this army. I felt that I can be severally handicapped if during the course of the game one of the 3 gets vaporized or I end up spreading out too much. I was hoping with the Norn Crown I can compensate a little if bad things happen to my synapse.

I often struggle a bit with Gargoyles as in I'm never quite sure how many to field; whether or not they can be used aggressively (i.e. leaving them in the open or flying them straight towards an enemy unit); or how to properly equip them if at all. Is it effective to just deploy them as close as I can and fly them straight at something?

I suppose I don't need 5 Warriors (I just like the look of Warriors), though I fear sometimes that just having 3 is too easy to vaporize. I'm always deploy mine deep inside a ruined building or any other piece of terrain that provides the best cover (and of course always within 12" of my Biovores). Since this squad is mostly there to "protect" and provide backfield synapse they never move much and thus don't really benefit from the Venomthropes nor Malanthrope (my Cover Save generators are always moving forwards with the main bulk of my army). I like that by giving them the 5 point Deathspitters and 5 point Rending Claws they are ok to glance light armour and/or defend and protect my Biovores with Rending Claws if I get Deep Strikers or Drop Pods.

Regen on the Hive Tyrant is just me being afraid to lose my Warlord Hive Tyrant.

I can see this list struggling versus Knight Titans and spammed Heavy Armoured vehicles, but I think with your suggestions it will fair pretty well versus everything else.

I used to run bigger aggressive blobs of Gargs but never quite got the hang of deploying and moving their fiddly little bodies all the time so if I run them now I tend to just use 10 either vanilla or with AG. I wouldn't bother with poison since the things you'd want to poison you can hit with blinding venom. I think they can be thrown forward quite happily being so cheap, especially if they draw small arms fire away from your support units. Just be mindful of needlessly throwing them into rapid fire range!

More than 10 is definitely preferable in theory, in practice they just annoy me too much.

The list is looking better, you should probably proxy a Toxi for a game or 2 before buying it though to be safe. I'm still unsure on it.

Have you used the Dima before?

I have used him a few times so far. I tend to react against better judgment and buy models on aesthetics sometimes (why I own a Dima) instead of based on their rules. For me the Dima got insta-killed in combat the first time I played him (he was where he needed to be just my dice utterly hated me)and in the next couple games he has done well for me.

I'm trying out 2 of them in an 1850 game this afternoon, then in my next game will likely drop 1 to shoehorn in 2 Toxicrenes.

The Dimas did Ok, I'm really tempted to cram in 2 Toxicrenes but it's so tight and I'm not sure how worthwhile it is!
