Local 1000pt tournament, need help!

So my local gaming club has begun something of a friday nights fights for 40k. Every friday night (duh) gamers come and have small 1000pt games. At the end of every month there are prizes of different amounts for in-store credit awarded to the top players, best painters etc. That is why I'm coming to you guys for help with this. I don't have much tabletop experience, so i am looking towards your suggestions and criticism for this list:

Strategy: The main idea for this army is to fly the flyrants up, get right into my opponents face, and either decimate infantry or stun a couple transports to death, and then destroy the passengers. While the fire is being drawn to the Flyrants, the living artillery node will be inching its way across the board hopefully killing everything in range, or at least wounding it and allowing the flyrants to mop up. The zoey and the tgaunts will most likely hold back field objectives, or just deter any out flanking/ deep striking units.

Anyways, what would you guys alter/ completely throw out of the list/change the role of a unit? I'm open to comments and suggestions. thanks!

Every change would mean to remove the LAN Formation or one of the Flyrants. Which are the highlights of that list.

That single Zoanthrope may offer easy FirstBlood for your opponent.
I would replace that one for a Venomthrope, moving with the formation to provide the 3+ Cover (Gaunts as first line shielding. Protecting the Flyrants as well if your oponent has first turn)
That single Zoan seems to have little change to ever kill any heavy vehicle anyways (Not enough range or shots).

If your club is running Malestrome missions, ther may be a lack of units, able to hold the 3-6 Objectives a turn. Flyrants are great for the killing and psyker stuff, but not to get obectives.
In that case I would suggest to leave the artillery Node at home and put more points in pointing units. (Deep Striking Rippers are my personal favorite, durable, very low models so its easy to keep those out of sight, and don't fall apart when out of synaps(only loose 1-2 Wounds a turn)).

^this is a good catch. drop the zoan, put in a venomthrope.

i wouldn't make any other changes. it's hard for the enemy to hold objectives when you've killed them all.

Although agreed on the venomthrope...will be more survivable than the zoan.

So, I took your guys' advice and went with the venom. Overall it was a pretty good game. I won 8 to 1 against a Raven wing player, 5 to 3 against a drop pod assault list, but had I was beaten 1 to 8 by a Grey night player who brought 3 nemesis dread knights (who does this and expect to make friends??). But overall steamrolled most of my opponents so thank you guys for suggesting i take a venom instead of a zoey as that saved my biovores several times during one game.

Nice outcome. What missions were you playing?

3 Dreads are pretty bad. With that build I see little chance to counter those.

I'm playing against a friend of mine with 2 of those on a monthly basis.
I use my Hormagaunt screens (2x20) to bind those. With 2-3 Gaunts dead a turn those stay there for the rest of the game, while the rest of the pack can hold objectives and score.

Leaving one Flyrant for a Dakkafex with poison & Hormagaunt Brood gives you more staying power on the ground. Bind the Dreads with your Gaunts and kill everything else with your LAN.
If your Fex has nothing better to kill join the fight against the weakest Dread.
If you give your Warriors Rending Claws those could join as well.
Only start the fight if you was able to prevent that dread from activating this forceweapon, Insta-Killing does not hurt against your Gaunst, but is really bad for the Fex/Warrior.

guess it depends on load-out on the knights. they can have some really nasty anti-horde. if you can get the charge off intact with gribblies, all you have to do is hold them a couple of turns. one or two is a lot easier to handle than 3.

Ya I figured I realized I could just calculate the points. I swear I'm not that lazy... Usually
