new to tyranids looking for advice please

Hey there fellow hive members, I've recently just started playing warhammer 40k again after leaving the hobby about 7 years ago. Anyway I've been looking at different options though out the codex in the last few days and I believe I've came up with a list that i can have a lot of fun with and hopefully win a few games



HQ:

Flyrant
With twin linked brain leech devour's x2
Wings
E grubs

Hormogaunt x 25

Elite:

Venomthrope brood x3

1415 points in total giving me 85 points to play with for wargear biomorphs or more units


My idea is to hopefully hide my hormagaunts behind enough cover ect supported by venemthropes to give them a 3+ cover save until they can get close enough to do some damage and if not hopfully ill have enough dakka to not matter.



All criticism is welcome let me know what you think and what you would add, keep or remove completely

I mosty play with friends or at my local GW so I don't know how this would fair in a competitive setting but all help would be greatly appreciated

Model / proxy some malanthropes to replace you venom/zoan duos.

Gargs would be better than horms fit if your spending that many points on gribblies.

Maybe some ripper swarms with deep strike to help capture some objectives

Nice list, I would drop the zoans and a venom and split your other venoms into 2 different groups, that way you can cover more dudes in shroud, use the extra points to get a exocrine and 3 warriors to do a living artillery node formation with your already existing biovores.

Are the formations part of the data slates? If so where do I get them??

Anywhere, they are a digital download, if your gaming center is not so strict you might be able to just use the rules off a blog online without paying for them. But I would pay for them, to be on the safe side.

Remove 1 zoan and 1 venom 2 of each in a unit is enough. Make the horms 30 each and give them poisoned.
If your friends have alot of 4+ armour saves than the biovores are good, if they have lots of 3+ or more also a waste of points, spend the rest of the points on naked gargs and take as many as possible as cover for hgaunts, to be the initial wave and even bog sme wraithknights or riptides with 6+ poisoned. Id take 2 naked units of 3 ripper swarms as obj. Secured troops for 2 objectives youd deploy far away and behind cover in your deployment zone, they dont really need synapse as feed dsnt hurt them that much, leave them there on those 2 objectives and forget them there till the end when ur opponent realises u have +6 pts on tactical objectives thanks to them, might even get sme maelstrom if u get lucky rolls too!!


Where I play we dont use FW models, so I never used a malanthrope,if however in your area you are allowed to use them then definitely take 2 of those instead of the zoanthropes and venomthropes.
