Hi guys
firstly, i apologise for how leangthy this is going to be.
a few years ago i put 40k asside to focus on some exams
but im now back, and will be be playing a 1000 point (ish) game on sunday
however, uppon my return i noticed that GW have changed the paints.
actually the paints where changed just before i left, but i did not realise this problem at the time
anyway, just like every nid player who paints HFL i am having trouble replacing the old GW paint "warlock purple"
the GW "replacement" (i think its called something like screamer pink?) clearly is too dark to be a match
so i have been looking through the forums for anything that might help me find a replacement
i found a paint compatibility chart on dakkadakka and i will include a link an the bottom (as well as any other relevent links) if i can still find it.
i have still found difficulty replaceing the paint however
i have the CDA paint "warlock purple" which has exactly the same colour as GW warlock purple (absaloutly identical), only problem was that it was really watered down, very much like a GW wash paint (or "shade" as they are now calling them) so while it is excellent for washing into the recesses, i cant use it for painting the carrapace.
now i didnt buy the paint directly from the CDA site (i should go to the site actually) so i dont know if they sell it in a thicker consistency but im assuming they dont.
if anyone has any information about CDA paints and if i can get a warlock purple with a thicker consistency, the info will be imensley helpfull
the paint used for the carapace needs to be relatively thick due to the smooth, flat nature of the carapace, but also because of the painting technique that im useing
the Vallejo equivelency is "warlord purple", only problem is the vallejo site dosent seem to have a webstore or even a product list (or not one that i can find) so if anyone knows if they do have a webstore (and if so how can i get there) or if i have to buy it in a physical shop (if this is the case, where is it sold?)
additionaly someone on this forum said that Vallejo's warlord purple is slightly lighter that GW warlock purple. if anyone actually has the paint, is this the case? and how much lighter is it?
ideally i am looking for as close a match as possible.
a company called Rackham is also on the paint compatibility chart, but that company no longer exists.
the next company on the chart is called reaper miniatures, their equivelency is called "Pale Violet Red".
if anyone has/uses this, is it a good substitute for warlock purple?
addittionally what is the consistency like? apparently these paints are sold in dropper bottles, implying a low viscosity.
thing is, i would rather know what im buying before wasting money on something im never going to use
there is also a colour hex thing mentioned, i couldnt work out that site either, if you copy the code into the search bar it just takes you to black.
so if anyone can help with any of these things, or knows of any other substitutes for warlock, any help you can give will be hugely apreciated
once again, my apologies for how long this was, and i have included all the relevent URLs below.
