A friend of mine is getting back into hobby as an adult (he played in teen years), and we are enjoying playing relaxed fluffy themed games. We are trying to stick to 1000 points because my table is only 4x4, and he is still working on painting his army. My question for the Hive is what are some themed list ideas? Last week I ran a themed list with DL, Lictors, warriors, hormagaunts, rippers and trygon deep striking. Deathleaper was stalking a Marine Captain for days before finally mounting an ambush from all sides and under their feet!
What are some themed list ideas that I can make? I'm not really concerned about making a powerful list, just something that fits a theme that can make a small narrative. Maybe something with Old One Eye? Or maybe join prime into a group of rippers - like a swarm of carrion beasts that follow a killy tyranid prime.
I have a pretty extensive model collection:
4 Tyrants (2 wings, 2 walking)
Prime
Deathleaper
4 Zoanthropes (one was converted Doom that can be used as a venomthrope)
3 Lictors
Lots of hormagaunts, termagants, and gene stealers
lots of warriors cc and shooty (I sometimes use 2nd edition warriors as Hive Guard or Biovores)
lots of ripper bases
3 Carnifex
2 Trygons/Mawlocs
10 Gargs
3 Shrikes
3 Raveners
Tervigon
T-fex/Terv (custom made before the model was released, can use it for either)
Harpy (custom made before model)
Crone (converted with Mawloc head and can be used as another harpy)
