Hi,
I have been collecting Nid's on and off since the battle for macragge starter set was released. I just checked wikipedia, and OMG, it was released 10 years ago!!
During this time, I have yet to play a game of 40k! I only want to play with a completely painted army.
Years ago, I started painting my army, but I was very indecisive about my color scheme. Initially I chose a jungle/desert scheme
Converted Broodlord
Partway through painting them, I just didn't feel it. Something about them didn't feel alien or menacing enough.
So I shelved the hobby until last year, I considered giving painting a second go. I SCOURED the web and this forum for ideas and inspiration.
After about 20 test termagants, hormagants, genestealers, I eventually came across my new scheme.
I hope I will continue to be happy with it!
So I present to you my new hive fleet: Nocturnis
A shot of my tyranid prime conversion (details and carapace still need to be finished)
Next up is my Tervigon conversion, which I started during the previous edition of the codex, when they were still good!
The things I really disliked about the original tervigon was how the termagant burst out from the front of the sac, and the stupid spindly hind legs.
I'm really happy with how my conversion turned out, now that I have given the tervigon a birthing canal, and fixed her legs.
My Finecast zoan broke off its base, but i managed to paint it at least. Now just need to pin it back onto its base
Group Shot
I am going to use these 'creeping infection' bases from secret weapon miniatures, along with some urban invasion bases here and there.
So now I would like to ask the hive for advice! As I said I am very indecisive about colors, and i am undecided if I should paint the base the dark 'moonscape' style as above, or 'desert style' (the base which the warrior is standing on in the group shot)
Hopefully this time i will finally paint an army so I can finally play a game! And I hope I will continue to update this thread
