i put my tyranids away when 7th come round do to the heavy nerf they got (for some inexplicable reason) but im trying tp get them out again and not get pilliged on turn 2,

what do you think of the list, i havnt played them since 7th came.

I really don't feel any worse off in 7th than i did in 6th. Gunboat flyrants are quite better actually.

also vector strikes are only 1 hit ?

well the list you have there isn't nerfs by any of that. A Carnifex is still going to do a number on a tank if you can get stuck in. d3 str 9 hammer of wrath and 3 str 9 ap 2 melee attacks.

The tyrannofex as a long range tank killer has never been a good idea with bs 3.

The vector strike nerf was a bummer but overall the Nids are no worse off than they were in 6th honestly.

In fact the "everything scores" mantra has actually helped us. NEver before have you seen deep striking rippers in lists. It's a brave new world out there!

VS is one hit yes, but D3 against other fliers. It's AP2 at least.

meh i'll see how it goes then, i tried to avoid taking the units I feel have been nerfed,

but yea a fex on the charge is gonna hopefully glance a tank to death at the least.

and yea everything scores is gonna help, tho for quickness my local meta usually just says kill points (which is why i lose alot with nids) maybe i should insist on objectives.

yeah we don't fare well in straight up purge the alien. Of course with anything, your meta will go a long ways to determine how well you can do with Tyranids.

Kill points is putting you at a huge disadvantage. Make your friends play properly and you'll do lots better.

Yes, insist on actually playing missions, or, play their game and load up on maximum Killy.

Stealers are awful/massively overcosted. No reason to take them if you know you're playing KP missions. Take minimum troops, either rippers or small gant squads. Fill the rest with flyrants, crones, dakkafexes, andmalanthrope/venomthrope and you'll do much better.

played this list, except the steelers were the 5x5 formation and one of the flyrants had lw/bs and ST's against blood angels, with the following list

mephiston
corbulu

3x priests

5 x guard

20 x marines (all with jump packs tact squad'ed)

1x furiso

2x baal preds


and man what a game, tactical objectives he won 15-9 with some lucky d3 points coming up for him. but allmost tabled him in 6th turn, all that was left was furiso on 1 hull point and a priest, and my exocrine fully un wounded (who didnt do alot this game)

just a few highlights

- the two fexes killed corbulu and took mephiston down to a wound and they were dakka fexes (before being ID with his force weapon) but then CC tyrant charged and killed him next combat.
- when zoan thropes work they BLOW UP (please do not swear)!!!
- tyrant w/ wings, LW/BS, ST's OA, AG being followed by a v.thrope and jumping up the table 2+ jinking 1st turn and charging second/third is pure win!
- steelers everywhere was great and gave him a thing to think about, in his face 1st turn, and they allways seem to do well with the rending.
- dakka flyrant to 2 wounds in the air, 1 when he fell and died to HOW from a jump pack in the 1st turn.
- carnifexs were MOM, great against his HQ's, tanks, and owned the middle of the board having them work together but not in the same sqaud was great for the CC and his force weapon as he could only target one.
- exocrine was meh!
- lots of power dice in this list for denying but bugger all to offens with as the nids powers are pants. allthough the 2d6 + 2 - LD wounds power worked great.
- against tank spam tyranids would of struggled.
- tactical objectives rock and are the best thing GW has brought in.

Yeah. The 7th edition nerfs while felt were at least mildly offset by the changes to grounding. Only 1 test per phase max now. Didn't see that mentioned above and since you had a flyer drop turn 1 didn't know if you just got super unlucky.

Actually very significant to survivability with our flyers(which are some of our best units).

your flyrant getting boned T1 vs. that list was simply the worst of luck, that's about the long and the short of that. dying to an S4 AP- hit was just the insult to injury...

I'm surprised it wasn't a worse beating with all the genestealers you brought. Any troop is a better option.

the steelers rocked, they eat marines for breakfast, i was able to deploy and threat all the objectives with their rule, the ones that got in combat always won and only 70pts a brood for 15 rending attacks at ws6 i6 and super scoring. 5 steelers on the charge allways beat 5 marines I found
