1850 Points Deep Strike and Fly List

Greetings all,

I am looking at getting into 40K for the first time ever after playing WHFB for 15 years and being exclusively an Orcs and Goblin player, as a result of painting so many Goblins (over 400) I am wanting to build, paint and play something completely different and as a result of lurking on here have come up with the following list based on as many large creatures as possible. Please note I am shaky on 7th edition rules at the best of times and wanted to play and paint something that I like the look of the model as much as how good the rules are for the models.

Here is the first attempt at a Deep Striking and Flier list, 5 FMC and 13 MC that arrive via Deep Strike

Ideally I am wanting to keep the Lictors as they are the unit that I instantly think of when I think of 'Nids but could possibly drop 1-2 for upgrades and the like.

Alternatively was thinking about dropping 2 Lictors and changing the Trygons to Mawlocs for a unit of 10 Genestealers with Broodlord.

Drop the trygons and lictors for dakkafex, I see your DS/ Fly theme but fugg it.

Your list looks really solid. I would suggest adding Mawlocs to your list.
Mawlocs are Heavy Support that deep strike in so they fit your theme. There is also really good synergy between the Lictor and Mawloc so its [Terror from the Deep] (TFTD) attack will hit more reliably because it homes in on the Lictor's [Pheremone trail].

When taking Mawlocs you want to run them in pairs or take 3 of them.
Mawlocs will wreak havoc on parking lots (amour parked close together) and infantry.
There TFTD attack also ignores cover which is very nice and will make your opponents worried.
I would swap in the Mawlocs and drop some Trygons. The good news is Mawlocs are significantly cheaper than Trygons so if you really have your heart set on Trygons you should still have enough points left over to field one or two.

@kwodd thanks for the reply, I'm not keen on the new Carnifex to be honest. I love the old metal 2nd edition screamifex but not sure how I'd convert it to a dakkafex. For the time being I wont be including them.

doomminion, thanks for commenting as well, so I have changed the Trygons for Mawlocs and now have 100 points to spend in Troops or Elites, couple of Zoanthropes possibly or even Venomthropes for shrouded but they both would be left behind. I could drop the Harpy for Shrikes brood?

Whenever I run a trygon prime he gets the miasma cannon. Doubles his firepower for a nice jack in the box, assault 12, 2+ template batch slap.
