I've fallen into the school of thought that horde lists are the most reliable lists. I haven't bought three hive crones (just one) but I'm not that convinced that flying circus is the way to go for us. The downside is that hordes take a long time to move around and are tiring. Therefore, they are bad for tournaments. I have always liked playing dodgy models (i.e. the death leaper) in my lists and when I saw the new assassin formation I jumped on it. I don't have the data slate but it would appear that it is 570 points which will decrease my model count significantly. I'll explain my thoughts behind taking the assassins but I figure they can be some gene stealer mutants/newly spawned monsters to terrorize my opponent with.
The assassins look like a blast to play with. They are come the apocalypse allies but that only means we can't deploy within 12" of them... which is okay because they all infiltrate now! With the death leaper, I'll have three models that require snap shots (callidus turn one, and the cullexus). They all have 4+ invulns and the death leaper has good cover saves. I'll infiltrate/outflank these five guys and hope to draw fire while the rest of the tyrannic horde pours forward.
The List:
Officio Assassinorum Formation - 570 points (should be right)
Vindicaire
Eversor
Callidus
Cullexus
Tyranids Main Detachment - 1280
Deathleaper (warlord for more VPs for character kills)
Tyranid Prime
2 Venomthropes
2 Venomthropes
25 Termagaunts
20 Hormagaunts, AG
20 Hormagaunts, AG
15 Hormagaunts, AG
20 Gargoyles, AG
20 Gargoyles, AG
Thoughts on the list? The best player in my area plays DE Venomspam and mixes in Eldar as either allies or main detachment.
