Ranged force weapons. Now a thing!

So news on the GK front is dropping and to me it looks like they largely got a lot of the irritating tricks they used to do pulled, such as Psyk-out grenades (which sure, can be thrown but arent nearly as bad in melee anymore), Halberds (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!) characters (Suck it loyalists, feel the pain) Psybolts (as an aside my nurgle marines LOVE this) etc....

However, they also got a new weapon type....psylencers are now ranged FORCE weapons.....this scares the (please do not swear)! out of me, a volley of just 2 of these has descent odds of dropping any of our monstrous creatures...and given the (please do not swear) lords haven't fixed shadow, we might be about to feel the hurt.

wait, i'm reading this. yes, they're force weapons with a high rate of fire (heavy 6 for the psilencer, heavy 12 for the gatling psilencer) but they're 24", S4, AP- force weapons. force just gives the weapon ID, it doesn't effect the AP and you still have to wound with it.

i'm...suddenly not as worried.

I for one still dont fancy taking 12 ID bolter wounds from a single squad......I've failed enough single saves to know how that works

let me look and see what platforms carry this stuff, i'm not sure. the gatling version comes out to 40% to ID a T6 3+ save model (provided the power goes off; i haven't figured that in because it's dependent on many things). you can still DtW, even if it's just a 6+ that's still a 17% reduction in effectiveness.

Any unit that could rock a psycannon can rock a psilencer, I think only the dreadnight has the gatling variant

have you guys got the codex in hand? how bad is it looking overall? GK still top contenders? I hear a lot of everything has become dirt cheap!

if i miss anything, let me know b/c i'm looking at this all piecemeal:

dreadknights are 9 miles of bad highway. two of these in w/e combination (just not two of the same): heavy incinerator (S6 ap4 torrent), gatling psylencer, heavy psicannon. nasty, nasty. 45 point reduction in cost of personal teleporter, built in 5+ invul now. nasty. at least they don't have grenades!

for every 5 paladins, two may take stuff off the terminator special weapons (incinerator (S6 AP4 flamer), psicannon, psilencer).

same for purifiers, 2 of the above for every 5 models in the unit.

brother-captain can pack the same.

purgation squad can take up to 4 of those same in a squad

interceptor squads get 1 per 5 models in the unit

terminators get 1 per every 5 from the terminator list

strike squad is 1 per 5.

i think that's it.

I think the game motivates everyone to use less deathswats/MCs and go horde-ish.

I think this stuff is more worrisome to our T4 stuff. It's gonna rinse through those quite badly with that rate of fire to get through our cover saves.
