Competition rules were:

Synapses Creatures we are close to The Tyranid Hive's 10 year anniversary!

To celebrate this momentous occasion we will be holding a Tyranid painting competition, we want to see your best painted Tyranid model it can be something you specifically paint for this competition or something that you have painted in the last 10 years since the site has been alive. Big or small we wanna see those bugs!

To enter simply reply back to this post with your entry, and on the 3rd September the forum's birthday we will collate all the entries into a poll and forum members will have until Sunday 7th September, (UK time) to vote. The person with the highest vote will not only receive a custom forum title, but a Tyranid monstrous creature box set of their choice! Yes that's right we will provide you with your next GW 'Nid to work your skills on!

There will also be a judge's favourite who again will be awarded a title and a Tyranid monstrous creature box set of their choice.

Thanks to all of you, without you this forum wouldn't be what it is. Best of luck to everyone who enters.

Why not just give it to Evan Quinn now? Kidding there, but for the Hives 10 years, I will do something this time. I will do my Space Hulk Stealers. Not sure what to do for bases for them.

Can we submit multiple pictures? I'm thinking of my Flyrant here, never been able to really capture the look of it in just one angle.

I am even going to submit my old stuff. Even though it's not good, and looks like (please do not swear) compared to the others, but not bad by itself, will show pride in what I could do at the time.

Almost makes me want to go out and buy the Tyranid box set. Problem is, I am so sick and tired I am sick of gaunts I don't want to touch them for a long while.

Oh geez I don't know what I want to submit. Maybe I'll paint something just for the contest...but my backlog is so large, I feel I just need to get more stuff painted!

Anyway, this will be the placeholder for me I suppose. I hope we can change our minds so long as our submission is here when the deadline arrives? As of this moment, I'm torn between my Swarmlord and my Doom of Malan'tai custom Zoanthrope.

Oh man, this is going to take a lot of work. I just did one Genestealer and it took me over 3 hours. This is going to take me a long time. Take mold lines off, paint and then take pics. Might not get done all 23, but will see what I can do for the rest of August.

Only problem I have now is, what colour do I paint the bases? The Stealers are from Space Hulk so what would be good colour to do the platforms they are on?

I actually cut a lot of those bases off, Davor. Although I've only painted 5 of them, but they didn't work with my snow scheme.

I'll probably submit my Scythed Hierodule; gives me a reason to finish the base.

You can post multiple pictures and yes reply to this thread with your submissions.

The Judges, (my) vote may not necessarily go to the best painted, I love good conversions, scenic bases, table top quality, themes all that good stuff, so don't be put off if you are not 'Eavy Metal standard. I base my thoughts on what I can do, (tabletop standard, ok to good tabletop)so no pressure with how well it's done, just get those submissions in by the 2nd September.

As my very first post in this forum, I'd first off like to thank you all for having me here.

I've been lurking like a ymgarl 'stealer at a reclaimation pool these last few months.

This comp is what finally tipped me to get back into synapse range - along with the sense of community you guys seem have here.

It seems appropriately fitting for me to post exactly here.

Ten years ago, for reasons that had nothing to do with the hobby, I put down my brushes. My army of 'nids and the rest of my miniatures were put away in hibernation.

In recent months my wife has shown an interest and real talent for painting miniatures. (Turns out she's a FAR better painter then me) This in turn rekindled my interest.

I found this forum and lurked here. MY how the 'Nids have evolved since I last saw them! And then .... thanks (and curses) to you guys, I saw the Trygon for the first time and my return to this addiction was sealed. It was my old Red Terror to a REAL monstrous scale. I picked one up a month or so ago and, as my first new Tyranid in 10 years, this is my submission to the comp. I finished it a few hours ago.

I paint to a 'decent' tabletop standard and have no illusions about competing against some of the incredible talent here but I'm proud of it, so here you are.

Anyways, thank you again and I hope you like it...

Wow great work there guys. I only got a few Stealers done. Just been too sick mentally to really do anything. Sorry about it guys. Will take a pic when can and post what I did. Nothing as good as the work shown, but will so what I have done.
