Using future purchases and what I have on hand, I constructed this list for potential use in my LGS's monthly tournament.

14 points left over not sure what to do with. Thoughts?

drop the stranglewebs off the gants. they are both bad, and hard to use properly (due to not being able to put the template over your own guys, so you need them forward, which means they're often the first to die, etc).

you have two large gant broods. i would drop one, and get a tervigon as a troop choice instead.

the rippers, it would be better to take two smaller groups, with or w/o the guns, so they can grab two objectives (or take 3 units of 3). in fact, taking two or three minimal units of deep striking rippers lets you put them where you want them, and hide your OS troops out of sight. it's also very inexpensive, so you can add more killy elements to your list.

whether you go MSU warriors + gants, MSU rippers, zoanthropes + gants (for synapse), or tervigon + gants is a personal preference thing. there's probably not a right answer.

i would probably not take 10 gribblies of any flavor, especially gargoyles. they give up first blood really easily. this is one you want a largish (15+) brood of.

Noted on the stranglewebs. I will not be taking a tervigon as I don't own one anymore and don't plan on buying a new one. Matter of preference. I only own 10 gargoyles so until I buy more I'll just drop them.

I split up the rippers, added a 3 man squad of warriors to help babysit the exocrine and fex as they move up field. I'm keeping both squads of gants. One will outflank with the Prime. The other will run the front as screen and cover for the primary bunch running up.

you're packing some expensive upgrades on the warriors and prime i didn't notice at first. probably don't need the sword/whip on the VC war; for its cost alone you can give the whole brood rending claws, which will still give most units pause before they just up and assault with another troop choice.

i will be the first to tell you i do not like primes at all, too bookoo points for the statline. he's a SM captain without an iron halo or the option for a storm shield. can be pretty hard to budge in the 30 gant squad, until the first time you run into wyverns or another nid list running biovores. not a fan. the way you're running him, he costs as much as a stock tyrant. outflanking with the blob squad can work, again, until you run up on someone packing vindicators, thunderfire cannons, biovores, wyverns, IK, etc. if you don't have these things in your area, you can get a lot more use out of this approach.

also, now, you have a lot of points spent between the prime and all the troops. while holding objectives wins you games, you still have to have enough points invested in offense to actually kill the other guy's plastic man-barbies and take their lunch money. right now, your threats are an exocrine, a flyrant, a single fex, and a lone crone. that's not a lot of umph.

speaking of biovores...with the models you have here, man i'd consider building some warrior with just some big bulked out guns, put them on 60mm bases, and use them for counts-as/conversion biovores, and run the living artillery node formation. brood of 3 warriors (one must take a biocannon), brood of 3 biovores, and an exocrine. all the blast weapons gain pinning, and if they're within 12" of the warriors, models in the formation can re-roll the scatter die. it's really, really, stupidly good and it's very easy to make counts-as biovores from warriors and bits.

I have 3 old biovores on square bases. 2nd edition, I think? Sounds perfect. I just don't have the data-slates to know the points cost. If memory serves, the old square bases are still legal if used on the old models that they came with?

there's no point cost additional to the cost of the units themselves. the living artillery node is a great formation.

check w/ your tournament organizer about the bases, it's kind of up to him. easy to just plop them on 60's if it's a problem.

Ok so I need to make point space for the biovores... Skim the gant squads down 60 points each should do it. I like this idea.

Gant squads down to 20 bugs each. 50/50 split on devs/fleshborers. Perfect fit.

Really quick question: If a prime joins the warrior squad that's in the living artillery formation, does he get pinning/reroll as well?

i don't think so. it says models in the formation, not units.
