Tyranids with Imperial Knight

Hello Hive!

I was wondering if anyone has tried any games with their tyranids and an Imperial Knight ally? I think it would be pretty easy to keep the knight away from the main of your forces (especially with a skyblight list) so you wouldn't take the penalties for Come the Apocalypse rules. I made a list the other day featuring an Imp Knight that I think would add alot to our lacking anti av13-14 units. My local meta has TONS of knights and with the smash and vector nerfs I feel it is hard to deal with 1 let alone 2-3 knights I' keep meeting on tables at tournaments.
What is everyone's thoughts?

I think it would work and it would provide another big threat for opponents to deal with. You could also try some of the nid lows as they also deal with knights well

I've been using an Imperial Knight with Nids for all of 7th edition. 4 FMCs and a Knight is my basic staple, it is brutally effective against most armies. The deployment is no problem, just give the Knight a flank to himself and let him run wild. If you want to read some BatReps with the Knight and Nids, I took them to the ATC this year and did pretty well (13th out of 170, best Tyranids).

I highly recommend the Knight Errant, he is far better at dealing with high armor and 2+ saves, pressing needs of ours. Fluff wise, my Knight is a member of House Mortimer, an old Knight House from Rogue Trader era that had been infested by Genestealers.

JY2 brought up that taking 2 Dimathings is about the same cost, and can dill a similar role.

Have not any direct math comparisons.

Gotta agree with Giga here. For cheaper I think the Knight is about as durable, but shoots at range and is still great in CC. He's a vehicle so fearless, faster and can kill tanks turn 1, 2, and later, while a Dima probably isn't charging until turn 3 at the best. I understand that many people don't like or want a Knight in their army, but the Dima isn't much of a replacement.

Then again, the Dimachaeron is Tyranid and the Imperial Knight is Imperial, with no business in a Tyranid army. That's how I look at it. The Great Devourer would rip it apart and feast on the dry corpse inside. I'm a Tyranid purist.

Wouldn't hierodules, hierophants or harridans play a similar role than a knight? No str D, but those could play a pretty similar role IMO...

This is interesting, as the Hive mind is extremely smart. you could have Hive mind attempt to create or infested a Knight. The hive mind didn't like the turn out and created the Dimablabla.

I been playing with the idea what can I ally with Nids to fill gaps that army has and I really enjoy this idea.


Tho I am torn as I like idea of the purist Nids army as well

Role is the same. Performance and cost...not so much. Harridan/hierophant are awesome units, but have a big price tag. Heirodyules are ok, but their price tag and BS3 really make the unit somewhat lackluster.
