Imperial Knights not powerful enough?

Give a knight a special name, add +1 to invuln, +1WS/+1BS and IWND (It will not die)... because you know Knights needed to get better? Oh yeah can't forget, run and shoot, and re-rolls 1s during stomps.

haven't seen any concrete numbers for points increase, but article just said slight increase. I'm just tired of playing against IK and don't enjoy hearing they may have an even tougher load out now.

If he has a drastic points hike I'd be ok with it too, still think unit is silly, but if pricey at least it would mean less of other units to deal with.

The problem with IK is that they are a huge fire magnet, most of my opponents manage to blow it up by turn 2 or 3.

I guess I just didn't think anything was underpowered about the IK in the first place, so has me wondering why any effort is being spent on giving them more powerful options.

Nice spotting the 500 points, missed that upper right corner. Definitely pricey, but I'll leave it up to the mathhammer gurus to know if thats fairly costed.

As for the fire magnet "problem", I may have to disagree, I see the whole point of these things to pose such a huge threat that ignoring them really isn't much of an option. And while they may lose HP, they never lose firepower thanks to those super heavy ignore the veh damage results shenanigans. So they keep dishing out the damage until they're killed. By comparison most shooty lists I face can kill 500 points of my nids in a single turn which does drastically weaken me. The fact that an IK keeps firing and delays the loss of firepower until turn 2-3 is a huge benefit.

Well as an ork player I don't have much a problem with them by tarpitting them with a unit of boyz, tyranids have the same tactics they can use. Generally it is a good rule to ignore something if you cant deal with it or feel the cost of your units shooting at it is too much vs the cost of what it will do if it reaches you.

Are your opponents correctly using stomp vs your tarpit units? last couple times I tried this my tarpit failed, what wasn't killed in combat was cleaned up by the stomps. I do agree that if you can tarpit for multiple turns with cheap troops, the IK wouldn't be as big an issue.

The Knights are fine and balanced. They're unstoppable vehicle poppers but as a Tyranid player a 45 point Ripper Swarm can tie them up quite nicely.

How? It gets 3 attacks, which means 2 hits, and 2 dead bases. Then it stomps the third one to death.

Yeah, and that's a turn it isn't moving. I also used a squad of hormagaunts. The stomp attack is small blast which is negligible against 16 models. The ripper swarm came in a turn later via deepstrike and held it in place for another turn. Kept it away from my artillery set up until turn 5 and the game ended in a win for me.

500pts is loads. Priced an already expensive unit into silliness. Knights are good. This one isn't I don't think.

I feel knights are silly but only because our codex has such issues dealing with them, this is a reflection on our codex though.  I have never fought one but I would assume I could put it down with Eldar fairly easily.  This one is more of the same really, again compared to nids it is silly IMO, a normal knight would own a biotitan and this one would do the same every day of the week and twice on a Tuesday.

i can't comment on their balance against all dexes but I feel they are above par.

one thing i also noticed is that this knight is a Character so you can challenge it with something that has an invul save and take all the wounds on that,less wounds will get to your units that way
