Leviathan Rising II. Holding onto hope?

The Black Library just posted a litte "teaser" for our next data slate and once again I find myself in an awkward place between dread and hope.

The cover has a warrior on it which give me hope that MAYBE this is the data slate that makes them viable to take. OR it will just be a formation that requires you to buy 4 boxes of warriors and they all get something stupid like Zealot. I honestly don't know what to think anymore with our codex's future. But maybe... just maybe...

One cool thing they posted was two pictures of a world getting NOM NOM'd and shows how big Hive Spires actually are. Pretty neato.


What are your guys hopes for this dataslate?

So... there's gonna be a endless swarm option for termagants? More intelligent synapse creatures means that all Warriors get Preferred enemy? More formidable means all creatures in Synapse get Eternal Warrior?

You see? We can't stop ourselves, can we? It's the human urge, to tell oursevles that things will turn out ok, even tho' reality is that it won't. Just like how we watch terrible movies to the end, hoping despite all the evidence that somehow it will improve.

(and yes, we bought the first dataslate)

Isen't "formidable Synapse Creature" the exact words they used to describe in Robin Cruddace in the January White Dwarf ? I hold little hopes for the dataslate, though it seems likely that it will involve units more relevant to my list, so that's something. If, across all the dataslates, they manage to make just one decent unit free of FOC restrictions (Carnifex, Biovores, Zoanthropes), then I'll be happy.

It's sad, when this is what has become of our expectation when tyranids are involved.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. At least where Nids are concerned

I don't really expect any of the dataslates to be a huge improvement over the base Codex, honestly.

The one thing that they can do is make a prime with 6 warriors or someting have EW then its on. Thats all they have to do.

"Hope prolongs the torments of people expecting Games Workshop to not mess up Tyranids." I believe there used to be some apoc Warrior formation that allowed us to cast Catalyst (the old version). It would be kind of cool if a Brood of Warriors became a ML1 Brotherhood of Psykers or something along those lines. Eternal Warrior, while nice, would imo seem a bit out of place next to the many units who don't have access to it.

I'd buy that for a dollar. Or whatever, the 180pts the warrior brood would cost.

What other things could we see out of warriors? I'm betting we don't see the deployment shenanigans of the Vanguard dataslate, so hopefully we pick up more special rules. Maybe a devastator-esque warrior brood that packs 3 biocannons?

Did the teaser indicate the release date?

I'm holding out hope, because I don't have anything to lose at this point. I'll pirate the dataslate for free, I already have all the Tyranid units so I won't feel compelled to buy anything new, and my gaming group considers dataslates legal. New formations can't make my options any worse, even if they fail to make them any better, so bring 'em on.

An Endless Swarm formation could be good, since Gaunts are one of the few things in our book that is actually worth taking en masse. It might take some more of the shine off the Tervigon, and it will all be irrelevant if they FAQ Troop-based formations so they're not scoring units, but whatever.

Do people ever learn their lesson? First codex came out, Nerd Rage. Second, data slate comes out Nerd rage, but not as much. So you really expecting anything else really?
