Two hive tyrants in one tyrant guard brood?

I haven't seen anything like this asked yet on the boards since the new codex came out, but, with the way it is written that Hive Tyrants can join a unit of Tyrant Guard like an Independent Character, could we put two Hive Tyrants with three Tyrant Guard? I don't remember seeing anywhere that says only one Tyrant can join one squad of Tyrant Guard. I'm not saying it would be the most effective thing, but you could play around with moving one in front of the other to try and regen wounds lost whilst soaking the excess wounds on the guard so the tyrants don't get too torn up. Again, not saying it's the smartest thing, but I'm bored at work right now, and I don't have my codex in front of me to validate this question.

The Shield Wall rule states that one Hive Tyrant can join the Tyrant Guard unit, it does not grant permission for a second to join.

I would interpret that as meaning only 1 HT per guard unit

I agree. It states "a single Hive Tyrant", obviously that means we can run squads of multiple HT, like a carnifex brood. I'm gonna have to tweak my lists to account for this now.

eh i kind of threw around the idea of 2 flying HT + regen with a single unit of tyrant guard runing up midfield, flyrants each take a flank, if either takes wounds and stays alive it retreats to join the hive guard unit which soaks up dmg while it regens and can still dish out damage...just without skyfire in the meantime. Lots of points to sink assuming someone will wound a tyrant, but not be able to outright kill it in one turn.

Tyrant Guards don't work like that. You cannot bring a unit of them without a Tyrant.

i was under the impression thats why the rule states the hive tyrant _May_ join a unit of tyrant guard. I don't recall where it says they must...only that you can only bring a unit of tyrant guard for each hive tyrant in the army

I do not think that is how it is suppose to work. Even though the codex completely allows it. How bizarre.

Wait hold on, do the rules stop a swooping FMC from joining a squad? If I swoop my Tyrant next to the guard and does join, is he still considered swooping? If he is, what happens to the hard to hit rule? Need 6's to hit and then auto pass LoS to the guard? Brainsplosion, and I am nowhere near my brb to check.

To join the unit in the first place you would need to switch from swoop to glide i believe.

You sure? Because I know the dex says tyrants join TG like IC's, and I know the IC section makes no mention of swooping/gliding. I don't know however what it says in the FMC section

There is no restriction that prevents Swooping FMCs from joining a unit. However, if you do join the unit, you will lose the benefits of hard to hit in most cases, as the unit your opponent is shooting at (Tyrant Guard) does not have Hard to Hit.
