Necorn painting blog (and other stuff I have lying around)

Ok, I've finally decided to start my necron army, however acquiring models cheaply in Switzerland can be very challenging, couple with a lack of disposable income means this may take a while to complete.. Fortunately I also have a bunch of random models lying around ( eg. Ork trukk). For my paint scheme I have decided on white colouring and scorpion green detail. This also matches up with my fluff ideas ( which I will add in each time I post a pic). Hopefully I will be able to post pictures in as soon as possible. Any criticism will be greatly appreciated, just keep in mind I am probably the worst painter ever to grace the earth.

Just got home after a 2 week holiday in Tuscany. Kinda sad to be back but now at last I can start doing some painting.

I've decided to give up on my white color scheme partially because I am an incompetent painter and white is quite hard to base coat over silver. If anyone has any good ideas for a paint scheme then help would gladly be accepted

It's hard to give any critique without seeing any pictures. You are only going to get better with practice and there's plenty of people here that can give you good pointers.

If it comes down to base coating white again I would just strip off the paint with simple green and start over with white primer if that's where you want to go with it. Using any white paint applied with brush would take forever to cover anything opaquely Save your sanity!

The blue and black one really inspired me and I have decided to do something similar but with yellow lining. I can hopefully post at least one pic by the end of the day.

For that necron dude, or anything with edge highlighting, it can help to go back over from the middle towards the edge to thin out the line, or bump up to the edge with a transition color to get it to blend a little. In that model's case bump some black against that line to clean it up and make it thinner. it helps if you have to do multiple layers to get the edge highlighting opaque then you can just clean it up from the middle to the edge afterwards.

Agree with Swarmy. I'm guessing the worn look is because the paints aren't fully applied. You should consider using washes and drybrushing to give the necron a proper 'worn' look once the paints are properly applied.

It's a fairy unusual scheme, but very unique for the 'Crons.
