I did not intend to make a battle report, I’ll have pics in the future.
Ok, so I played a 2k game last night w/
4 flyrants w/ tl devs
2 tervigons
6 hive guard
20 gaunts
1 biovore
1 DoM w/ spore
Setup:
We split the table diagonally.
3 objectives to grab. 2/3 were in my deployment zone.
Turn 1-
Naturally, I planted a squad of guants in cover on the objective that was far in the backfield and set up the biovore back there.
One of my flyrants (not the warlord) failed his psychic test on a 12! And wounded himself… awesome… The other 3 did get iron arm.
3 flyrants swooped across the river and laid 36 shots into a devastator squad leaving just 1 alive.
My lone biovore was lucky enough to drop a marine that was bunched up next to some scouts.
I moved my hive guard forward into cover to setup for armor popping. A squad is in range of the coming land raider and they get a glance.
My tervigons and the guants that aren’t holding an objective move forward.
My opponent dropped and killed the nearest hive tyrant (the one that had iron arm s9 t9)
His land raider rolled on the middle objective.
Turn 2-
DoM drops like a bat out of hell and soul leaches 7! Marines. He is now s10 w/ 10w. So he kind of tipped the balance really fast in my favor and made
up his point cost for this game and the next.
All 6 Hive Guard fire at the land raider and pop it! 5 terminators get out.
Turns 2 ½ - 4-
I mopped up the backfield with 3 flyrants up, both tervigons up, and all 3 hive guard up, and DoM who got rapid fired down to s5 w/ 5w.
The terminators and the warlord met in the middle and exchanged blows from turn 2 thru 5. The warloard walked away with 1w.
One tervigon tapped out (stopped producing babies) after turn one, the other lasted all game.
On turn 4, 10 terminators w/ Lysander teleported in. I swamped them in guants. I moved DoM close, but not in combat so he could soul leach. And since
I was winning by A LOT, and held all of the objectives, I landed 2 flyrants, peppered them w/ devourers and charged.
By the end of 5 only 3 terminators were left, Lysander had 1 wound, but my flyrants had bitten the dust in close combat, but they pulled their weight. I could have kept them in the sky, but tabling my opponent was in reach so I went for it.
My opponent was a good sport and good friend… and bitter rival.
