Interceptor just got alot better, at the same time, this example can also be used in line with other methods of which a units are transported together from reserves, such as spores or outflanking rhino's so long as the transported unit is actually viable to be shot (such as Quad gun A pops rhino, Quad Gun B then shoots disembarked squad)
Also apparently Tau Crisis Suits can actually carry 3 on the same non TL weapon (though only able to be fire 2 of them at a time). This means Twin Non TL Plasma rifles anyone?
The problem with the Swarms wasn't the rules - it was that people weren't reading them. And they haven't changed since 5th edition, so its a long standing problem.
For some folks (like me) it was more a distrust that GW wrote what they intended to write. Swarms worked the other way for at least 2 editions; so it was a distrust that GW realized this change when they changed the wound allocation rules.
To be honest, I am still not convinced it was thought about ahead of time. This FAQ may just be them realizing what they did, and are now going with it. But I could be wrong.
OTOH, you are right, the rules in the book, completely support this FAQ answer.
