This is some back story of a big campaign I'm thinking up for the local area. So far, most of the people like it seeing we have quite a few space marine, imperial guard, chaos and daemon armies collecting dust. It's pretty involved, the document attatched at the end of this post is just the back story to it. I would really appreciate some feed back on the background.
Currently I'm working on the the special characters and the abhuman rules. That is:
-Pauline Randeth;
-Lord Commisar Risharx;
-Inquisitor Daven Kel-Rosbser;
-Chapter Master Nicolas the Two Horned;
-Chaos Space Marine Sorcerer Pophis the Knowledgeable;
-Zeandrath the Brazian, Angel of Murder, Avatar of Kahneth;
-Inquisitor Callydia Benadice;
-Archon Tliensic D'raque;
-Shas'el Se'hen Che Lel;
-Overlord Tawaret, Harbringer of Light.
The ab humans will be upgrades to infantry platoons like:
-Half eldar get fleet;
-Wolf men get + 1 ws and close combat weapons;
-Beast men get +1 toughness.
Not sure about the per model cost as of yet.
The missions involve the main campaign involve large games(The fact we can fit 10,000 point games within a weekend is sorta sad). Thye specific rules and expansions involved are being worked on last and will go in order of:
-The Free Thinkers' and Koservitch revolutions;
-Minitor Civil War (Koservitch Union vs Coalition of the Free)
-The clash of Iron (Space Marines and Chaos Marines get involved);
-Angelic Intevention (Daemons get involved);
-Cleansing of the Masses (Impirium vs civilians)
-War of Heretics (Coalition of the Free and Koservitch Union, Impirial intervention);
-Rivers of Mankind's Blood (3 way between Impirium, Coalition of the Free and Koservitch Union)
-Uneasy, Unholy Unions (Koservitch Union, Coalition of the Free and Chaos vs Impirium);
-Discovery of Ancient Technology (Koservitch Union vs Coalition of the Free, Necron intervention OR Impirium vs Necrons)
-A far more Ancient plot (3 main human factions vs Necrons, Eldar intervention)
-Xenos' Own Way (Necron vs Eldar)* (Winner verses Spacemarines as Deathwatch)
-Justice (Impirium vs traitor Space Marine Alllies and Chaos Space Marines)*
-Betrayal and Culling (Coalition of the Free and Koservitch Union (imperial guard only) vs (mostly Tzeentchian) Daemons)*
-Madness, The Conspiritor (Inquisitorial forces and Grey Knights vs Chaos Space Marine Sorcerer Pophis the Knowledgeable leading a Thousand Son's Warcovern and Aetaos'rau'keres, Slayer of Souls (From Apocalypse II))*
*These last missions happen in the story at the same time.
While the bigger games are going on, faction not involved may be raided by non alligned forces. If they win they gain more points, if they lose they loose points (in units of 50. Each indvidual faction has 5,000 opints at the begining of the game)
Any input you have for any of this in sincerely welcome. So here's the document with the backstory if you have a space 15 minutes to read.
-EDIT-
Evidently attatching a PDF didn't work so I'll just post the document
The Minitor Sector
The Minitor sector is within the southmost regions of the Segmentum Ultima and is known for harbouring dangerously progressive ideas, having some of the most radical denominations of the Ecclesiachal faith as well as being the source of a many heretical alternative political ideas. It is also the home sector of many abhumans, only a staggering 48% of the human population of the sector not fallen victim to a dangerous evolutionary taint. 34% of the population are Ogryns, Rattlings and and some of the most skilled Psykers (indeed, the Black Ships have come across these systems so often that it is not unlikely to meet an Astropath Ascendant or Primaris Psyker who is a Minitoran). The remaining 18% of the population belong to Homo ungulate, Homo cadindae and Homo ynnitch (seen blow*) who have been thought to be endemic to the sector but due to over population leading to mass emigration, have spread and flourished as other abhumans have throughout the Imperium. The regiments of these systems are riddles with Ogryn auxiliaries, Rattling teams and battle psyker squads.
Due to the unorthodoxy of the ideologies in this sector and the variance in human subspecies in the population, this place is also a stop for many in more radical factions of the Inquisition. As well as radical Inquisitors adding to the diversity of the sector, the Ordo Xenos has noted that this sector has had a dangerous amount of alien influence. From trading relations of with the Tau’va or Blood Axes Klan to regular raids by the remnant fleets of Hive Behemoth and the Kabal of the Wraith Kind. Puritanical eyes have looked upon this sector with an annoyed gaze.
The Space Marine Chapter, The Golden Rams, whose homeworld is in that sector has recently taken a great hit when Pophis the Knowledgeable, sorcerer from the Prodigal Sons, turned 2 thirds of their 1st company, 4th, 6th, 7th and 9th companies were turned into rubric marines – the automatons that make up the bulk of the Thousand Sons legion. The Chapter devastated has been preoccupied with building back their forces over the last 200 years have been accused of neglecting their duties to the Imperium. There are accusations that they have turned away from the Emperor’s light when they fought with the Koservitch Union against the Coalition of the free. If this wasn’t bad enough, it appears that the Golden Ram’s Gene seed has been corrupted by Homo ungulate phenotypes, members showing small, goat-like horns. Inquisitor Daven Kel-Rosbser as advocated for the destruction of the Golden Rams, his belief in the danger they pose is one that he vows to neutralize at any cost.
Systems
Star: Librisium. This is the east most system. It has 5 habitial planets, its capital being the hive world of Librisium III. Librisium IV and II are forge worlds whose manufactoriums have often committed the sin of innovation; the creed of the Mechanicas is as twisted as the Ecchlisiarchal faith. Librisium I is a Scholar World, research stations dotting it’s orbit. where the heretical creed of the ‘Free Thinkers’ arose from which was formed the inferenal ‘Coalition of the free’. Librisium V is an Agriworld, home world of the leader of the Coalition of the Free – Pauline Randeth.
Star: Koservitch. The south-most star with a system of 9 habitable planets. This was once the system of luxury, once busy with 3 feudal worlds before the Koservitch Union. Koservitch Prime, the capital and sole hive world of the system, is the home and throne of Tyrant Risharx – the leader of the Koservitch Union. Koservitch II, III, IV and V are all Agriworlds while Koservitch VI, VII, VIII and IX are manufactoriums. Tradition and pride in Solar system identity is paramount and working for the greater good of their people – no matter what subspecies – from ability to need of the first the Koservitch people and then humanity.
Star: Ares. The south/western star. The Chapter world of Rouman lies in the same orbit as the Garden world of Salapepe, directly vertically opposite sides of Ares, whose orbit is the same speed as Rouman. For this reason, Rouman and Salapepe are known as the arms and the Ares, the pivot, of the ‘Minitoran scale’. The other two worlds are of Sparthina – the primary recruitment world of the Golden Rams – and the Tzeetchian Daemon World of Vapals where almost half the chapter were made slaves of the servants of Tzeentch and is the shame of the Golden Rams’ Chapter Master Nicolas the Two Horned one.
Star: Erexaus: The northern, most distant star. This system has a hive world, an agriworld, a forgeworld and a death world. Although they have the most xenos contact – being a system of predominantly trade- this system’s faith conforms the closest to core Ecclesiarchal tennents.
Star: Minitor. The star for which the sector is named after is a system of 6 planets, 3 of which are death worlds (former civilized/trade worlds destroyed by the constant warfare and bloodshed) and 3 others are over populated hive worlds. Librisium and Koservitch have had their share of battle but fighting over the capital system has affected each and every inhabited world. The Coalition of the Free have almost taken Minitor III while the Koservitch Union have a slipping grip of Minitor V. The greatest fighting has been occurring to the largest of the Hiveworlds in the sector; Minitor Prime. There is evidence of ancient xenos technology which, with the help of the many forge worlds of the Minitor sector, may give those who acquire it the edge – if they don’t release something more sinister that is.
*Abhumans
As well as Ogryns, Rattlings and Psykers, the Minitor sector has large populations of less common abhumans. Although some of these pheonotypes seem extreme, they can still have fertile young with other subspecies, interbreeding with pure Homo sapiens will see most of the obvious pheonotypes bred out within 5 generations. It is unknown why the Minitor sector has such a high population of abhumans. Perhaps these are mutations of chaos or, at least in one case, due to exposure with xenos. It could be due to the particularly active Star Minitor, after which the sector is names. We can never know for sure.
Homo ungulate (‘Goat men’)_
Also known as ‘goat men’ these abhumans are about on average 7 feet high as adults. The have long, jutting out jaws and noses, their elongated heads are flanked by long, curved horns which are lager on men than women. Their feet end in cloven hooves, their spine extends to a short tail. They invariably have long, fine body hair all over. They are known for their greater strength and keen sight, they are seen as cautious and initially shy although friendly to strangers. First generation hybrids appear less beastial, with much more humanoid with a heavy law and brow, an under bite and broad nose. They are still excessively furred but restricted to the outer arms, outer legs, chest, median of the back, sideburns and beard. Their feet have 3 toes encased black nails, known as ‘demihooves’. By the 4th generation hybrids, the horns are but stubs on the forehead and apart from than could pass for any heavily built, hair human.. ‘Bull men’ Refer to Ogryn/Goatmen hybrids.
Homo canidae (‘Warewolf’)
These ‘dog men’ are much more humanoid than their names imply. They have high, large set ears that come to a point the top of the lobes separate at the temples., darkened noses, jowls, digitigrade feet ending in claws, instead of nails their fingers taper to claws and, tails in long hair and the rest of their body covered in short fur. These abhumans have a keen sense of smell and hearing, their stamina makes battle hardened veterans seem physically unfit. These phenotypes are incredibly recessive, the first generation hybrids looking much like humans other than the ears, nails, teeth and tail (many cases where the characteristic fur remains on the hands and feet). These features remain until their bred out, tail shortening, nails flattening and ears shrinking and descending to a normal position. They are the most aggressive subspecies of human encountered. There has been speculation of connection with the Spacewolves.
Homo ynnitch (Half Eldar)
These individuals are the decedents of the victims of the more perverse practices of hundreds of Eldar raids from the Kabal of the Waithkind. What perverse heresy resulted in these hybrids is yet unknown. Some speculate that mankind and Eldar have a common ancestor – these rumours should be dismissed. These individuals, from a distance, blend into the uncorrupted masses but there are very real differences other than the internally physiological. These abhumans have inherited then alien fairness and longevity of their xenos monstrous ancestors. Many have been known to live in excess of 300 years. They are often pale, looking almost sickly, and appear younger young than they are – for most of their life these individuals look no older than 16 earth years old age. Their hair is of unnatural hues of greens, reds and blues. Incidentally, ‘half Eldar’ possess half the grace that Dark Eldar move with but are almost never psykers.
Forces
Coalition of the Free
Originating from the so called ‘Free thinkers’ of Librisium I, the Coalition has its tenants based on meritocracy and social liberalism. Their ultimate goal is the market driven anarchy, their insistence is that it is immoral to expect any one has any obligation to anyone but themselves. If one is stupid and manipulated by somebody more intelligent, that is the punishment for their stupidity. One’s self interest, to these heretics, is the most important thing to anybody is their own wellbeing. Such things such as charity, taxation and inheritance are to gain reward for what wasn’t worked for. Laws are seen only ways to unduly restrict one’s freedom, the only reason why one should truly have their freedom restricted is to be too weak to easily manipulated to not deserve it. They will continue to fight the authoritarian Koservitch Union – no one should be restricted by the greater good or social norms. Who are you or I or anyone to tell somebody what is better for them or what they should do? This line of thinking is dangerous and could throw the sector into capitalist amine.
One of the primary leaders of this godless cult is Pauline Randeth, the woman who murdered the system governor of the Librisium system. She leads by two principles of her ideology which are words from a native culture from her ancestery. The first is Shay’tan – the freedom to do whatever you wish with no oppression or morality to stop you and; Zeensh’an – the idea of moving, by your own plan, to look out for your wellbeing. Shay’tan and Zeench’an are speculated to be the influence of Slaanesh and Tzeentch. . Inquisitor Daven Kel-Rosbser see this cult as the best way to deal with the great danger that he sees in the Golden Rams. Chaos Space Marine Sorcerer Pophis the Knowledgeable is likely to have incredible influence over the workings of this group. Sighting of “angels” in the Librisium system may be in fact the infernal daemonettes of Slaanesh.
Koservitch Union
When Lord Commisar Risharx saw the disparity between the rich and poor; the human, abhuman and xenos; why Rogue Traders that come through have their family ensured complete freedom while the farmers in the fields and the workers in the manufactoriums are oppressed by whatever the higher classes said was Ecclesiarchy creed which held not to the traditions of the praise of Kharneth, Nergal and the Emporer but made up on a whim to keep the masses down. It was Uriel Risharx who led a military coup against the aristocracy of Koservitch and in that moment he names himself Tyrant Risharx – representative and will of the people. The Koservitch Union is an authoritarian, egalitarian and conservative regime. Supplies in the sector are redistributed from eachworld to each world, then to each continent and province according to need and to each house hold according to the number of people, age of the people and any disabilities.
Chapter Master Nicolas the Two Horned sees this cult’s traditionalist ideals, as it closely conforms to the Golden Ram’s cult, as in close service to the Imperium. Such creeds of fighting against oppression have attracted the attention of the Death Guard Legion – to fight oppression being one of their founding principles. The military efficiency the system is run, the focus on pride and the idea that one should only attack military targets for the blood of the innocent is not to be spilt in war attracted the flesh hounds and blood letters of Khorne lead by the great Blood Thirster Zeandrath the Brazian who too would find vengeance for those who would add skulls of the unworthy to the skull later. The amount the faith has been twisted is unholy and unforgivable, to add the God Emperor to the same pantheon as the so-called ‘Kharneth the defender of the weak’ and ‘Nergal, Farther of the oppressed’ is an unholy crime for which death is too lenient. It’s no surprize the allies that the Koservitch Union finds itself, Kharneth and Nergal are almost certainly Khorne and Nurgle.
The Cleansing Crusade
Puritan Inquisitor Callydia Benadice has been advocating reclaiming of the Minitor Sector for 20 years now after her concern of the spread of abhumans, heretical creeds and xenos contacts. The recent civil war between the idealistic, anarchic Coalition of the Free and the brutal, traitorous Koservitch Union has sprouted new support in case such a conflict spread. Several Chapters have been involved in the conflict already. Several daemonic incursions have occurred already and ties the Kabal of the Wraithkind with Craftworld Iyanden have been speculated with fragments of wraith constructs found. The Sa’cea Sept of the Tau Empire will surely seem interest in their trading partners. If sightings of the World Eater, Word Bearer, Death Guard, Thousand Sons, Alpha Legion and Emperor’s Children warbands ring true than the corruption of this sector runs very deep. The Ordo Malleus, Ordo Xenos and Ordo Hereticus have all shown interest in taking part in this Purge. The talks of ancient xenos technology may in fact be the remnants of a Necrontyr dynasty. If the Minitor sector cannot be saved, it will be condemned to sector wide exterminates. Operations will be based initially in the Erexaus system.
