Fortifications and terrain WIP

Finally starting my nid aegis line. Since I have no way to take pictures, I'm posting a quick sketch of what I'm trying to make them look like.

edit: I'm planning to get a camera hopefully within a week

Interesting concept, but don't you think it looks a bit frail? I don't think the membrane between the pillars would stop a bullet, although it would certainly provide cover from line of sight.

I'll be watching with interest! :-)

Yea, I thought of that, I just like the way it looks> I could probably make up some fluff explaination of how a membrane blocks shots, either its resilient to gunfire through nid engineering or something...

well it doesn't need to be hard.
if it's flexible enough to bend until the energy of the impact is gone (and can then retract to original state) it's good as well =)

Just finished the basic framework out of plasticard. I won't have a chance to work on it this weekend, and I don't have any green stuff at the moment so the project will be on a short hold till it gets here, I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

Weeell, no, since the bullet will still kill whatever is behind the membrane. Kinda like wearing a rubber cap instead of a helmet :-P

First off...the question is whether it provides cover...not can it stop a lascannon. It obscures the target and therefore still makes it hard to shoot something you can't completely see...providing cover.
Secondly...'nid biology is based in fiction...who's to say that the sections between pillars aren't some kind of super dense resin that hardens to steel-like properties?

^ true. And don't be mistaken about the thoughness of human skin. That stuff can hold a lot. I can imagine that Tyranid skin is even a lot tougher.
