Any paint stripping advice?

Hi guys - I recently picked up a FW Flyrant off eBay and I planned on stripping it and repainting it.

I've stripped models before and normally use either Dettol or Fairy Powerspray and they're fine...I have used these and shifted the top half a dozen layers of paint (literally - there was pretty much no detail left...some people shouldn't be allowed nice things...) but have got to the undercoat and it's a black tar-like paint that I am having trouble shifting.

It's just sticking to the model and being moved round - not coming away. It's some sticky and thick it's taking impressions of my fingerprints. I can even move some of it if I press hard with my fingers - but it wont leave the surface of the model.

Anyone had to deal with something like this before and any advice on what will get rid of it without damaging the FW resin?

I tried using that stuff and it worked pretty well, though I seemed to get some white powdery residue on my minis once they dried. Not sure how that happened. Maybe I had my minis in there too long?

GAAaa! Now you tell me! I was fighting with simple green for the last 2 weeks before I said screw it and just primed over models that were only 60% cleared.
