Tyranids Rebirth in 6th Edition?

Hello people,

I am sure that all of you have heard several rumors about the upcoming 6th edition release.....I see that we may get some minor boosts , but since everything is still rumors , wishlisting and uncertainties , I would like to focus on the facts here.

How possible would it be , that in the new 6th edition , the will be no FAQ restriction on the Tyranid Prime + Warriors + Spore combo? I mean , its a new edition , so there will be new FAQs and perhaps the GW people will realize that if we get our warriors back , our codex will automatically become one of the best out there! Furthermore , the new release of the Grey Knights , and their extreme effect on the current metagame , makes our classic warrior combo seem really less IMBA than it was before. Also , with the latest releases , every codex now has some sort of flyer , and thus even more mobility , meaning that our Spores fits this image of " sky wars " quite well.

And if people start using more Stormravens and less Land Raiders , its all the better for us since tyranids like 12 AV vehicles.

I would like to know how possible this idea seems to you , and from what you have read , will the tyranid race make a step forward into the competitive tournaments? This year , there were 0 tyranid players in Adepticon , and it seems that the will be very very few in the ETC tournament as well. The return of the warriors would save us and put a nice dent onto all GK and IG lists.

The facts are that we won't have the facts until 6th edition. Until then there's no point in worrying or speculating.

You seem to think that simply allowing a Prime to Pod with other warriors will fix all the 'dex's problems. I severely doubt it.

OT:

I'm worried in a weird way about 6th. See there are two fears for me, one the normal one that we become as nearly as unplayable. The other is more esoteric.

For some armies, like Dark Eldar and Tau in prior editions, there where points where there was basically only 1 single way to have a functioning army. Not a competitive army, but just a functioning one.

See most armies become min-maxed to one or maybe two designes for competitive play. Yet there are many who don't pay tourny armies, who still like to play a have a chance at winning a game that follows the rules.

It's this zone between the "F*ck it, lets get drunk and just shoot something" mentality; and the tournament gaming. A zone that most people tend to find themselves in.
It's where you as strictly as you can still follow the rules, yet don't penalize on each other when you slip up.
Where you still keep track of turns, and objectives, yet there are times when you'll start a combat out of a fun factor instead of a tactical one.

Nine times out of ten, there is at least a single build that still functions for every army. Yet as 3rd ed codex (in 4th and 5th ed BRB) Dark eldar players can tell you, there can be armies where it is hard indulging in variety without essentially forfeiting hopes of a victory.

Back during the 4th ed -5th ed transition for Nids, we had Nidzilla, stealer shock, elite nids (miss that eternal warrior rule...), and good old fashion gaunt hoard.

Nidzilla was the one people used in tournament settings, but for everyday play, or semi-casual, there were still options.

As long as we retain options, and half our units aren't rendered useless for that semi-casual zone, I'll be happy.

it'd take giving warriors and shrikes cheap meltaguns to fix them, along with not being ID'd by S8. then they'd be the awesome killing machines they're supposed to be, and their cost would be close to appropriate.

Give them Toughness 5, maybe even at the cost of one Wound. The fact that a scrawny Genestealer is as tough as a three meter high Warrior is ridiculous.

Yeah - Tyrant/Hive Guards are T6 with 2W and are roughly the same price as Warriors (when you actually kit Warriors out). It would make sense for Warriors to be T5 with 2W at their same price.

As it has never been legal, how can it be classic?
