Just one of the new paints...so sad

So a majority of my army uses liche purple. I had to strip all my gaunts and warriors because I sucked it up on painting them. Whoops! Ran outta Liche purple. So I went to pick more up. Whoops! They don't make liche purple anymore. I was told that Xereus purple was the new name for it, and it was the exact same.




It's not. I'm pretty bummed....gonna have a mismatched army, or I'm gonna have to pick a new color and paint over all of em. Sadface.

Hold on, got an app for that XD. It compares Vallejo, Citadel (old stuff) and Reaper.

Vallejo game: hexed lichen
Vallejo model: Purple
Reaper Master: Clear Plum

Vallejo stuff is a pretty good match. The game colors were designed to be a match for the old GW line. I, too, am a bit annoyed about how they abandoned the old colors. Even though they say there is an equivalent, for some of the colors it is not a match.

Yeah it's pretty disappointing. I have a bunch of skinks to paint Liche Purple, hopefully my paint holds out, I'm using a ~15 year old pot of Liche Purple!

they had to rename the paints cause they moved on to a new paint company and the old one won the rights for the paint names :/

Personally I couldn't care less about the names, that change doesn't bother me at all, just a minor inconvenience.

What bothers me is that the old colours don't have perfect matches in the new range, so armies I've been painting with the old paints and the old paint has run out/dried up are going to be inconsistent.

Names are just an inconvenience, changing the actual mix of the paint screws us over.
