Lictor/DL conversion [pic heavy] Updated

So, this is my latest little project. I had some warrior stuff lying around from my Ogryn hybrid conversions, and thought I'd have a go at making a lictor.

The body is a straightforward warrior variant, I wanted to have the lictor stalking or ready to pounce. I found some suitable material lying outside my flat - it's concrete with stones mixed in - and this is what I came up with:



Now, for the head I was originally planning to use a Ymargl head, but soon realised it's way too small. I couldn't find anything else suitable, so decided to try to semi-sculpt it. I used a metal biovore head, removed the lower jaw and filed back the teeth of its underbite for the face. Where the lower jaw was I put in some putty tendrils. The head was then extended back, and capped with armour plating. The plating was cast from a mold of the plating on a warrior head, the mould was made with InstantMold:

Comments/criticism welcome. I might still do something with the tail, but I'm not sure yet, I'm open to suggestions.

Haha, it's a little short and squat looking, but there's nothing to be helped there, You did an awesome jon though, keep up the good work. Also, if you plan on using more, I'd pick up some spare Mawloc/Trygon arms.

It's Milliput, the standard yellow-grey variety. It's more economical than GS, but I don't know how it handles in comparison since I've never used GS.

Hm, would a ravener's tail and lower bits work with a warrior torso? If I'm thinking right, it could extend the abdomen and provide a longer tail, you'd just have to work with the legs a bit to keep them into the ravener's bottom arm slots. (Speculating, I don't have any ravener models but I know they're very close in size.)

Are they really that close? I have Raveners, but no Lictors.

looks great but (like many of my posts) i would change one thing. file down the biovores jawline to make it more flush with the tentacles, as well as more aerodynamic

I've never liked the monstrous creature scythe talons on warrior-scale bodies. You may actually have a better fit if you use some of the extra talons from the Trygon kit?

Thanks for the comments all. I will look into sourcing those bits, especially the trygon talons - there seem to be 5 sizes of talon with the trygon, any idea which might fit best?

I think the smallest of the 3 sets on the trygon would work, in fact the middle set would probably look good as well.

Thanks for all the comments. I have made some of the changes suggested. I got myself some trygon arms and tried them out. The arms were a better thickness, but the talons were too short. To rectify this, I extended them with offcuts from the original MC sprue talons I was using. I'm really happy with the result - thanks to Devil's Advocate for the great advice.

I also switched out the big beefy rending claws for ravener rending claws. Looks less chunky, I definitely prefer it this way.




I've done a minor modification to the tail - just added a claw and a scorpion-like toxin sac (putty, superglue and sand).

Thanks. The red is just Citadel Blood Red on a Skull White base with a touch of black wash in the cracks (if you slap on the wash too much the reds look horrible later). Then highligted a couple of times with increasingly lighter mixtures of Blood Red/Sunburst Yellow. I will post in the painting forum when he's done - probably this weekend.

Lookin' good. I like it much better with the smaller rending claws, the proportions fit a lot better.
