Hola. Like many of our gaming brethren, I'm frequently broke. Most of the conversions I do are done to cut costs while making a unique hive fleet. In an attempt to help newer converters with ideas, I've decided to just compile all the stuff I've done into one place. So first off, here are links to my older works - please take care not to necro anything.

Mycetic Spore: thetyranidhive.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=converting&action=display&thread=36053

Again, please take care not to necro those threads.
Two days ago I was scrounging through my bits box, and I realized something very simple yet easily overlooked. Spore mines can be easily built out of stuff everybody has littering their boxes: adrenal glands, MC toxin sacs, flesh hooks, spare 25mm bases and a little greenstuff. Considering the prospects biovores and harpies are getting for 6th, I figured a lot of players could use some extra mines. Here's what I've got:
(Edit: taking advantage of the rare occurrence where I'm awake, off work, and the sun's up.)
You simply make a small GS ball, use the adrenal glands for side carapace, the toxin sac for the top, and the flesh hooks for the bottom. I opted to put gs carapace in front and in back of the spore's core. The ridges, adrenal glands, and toxin sacs were painted in the carapace colors, while everything else was painted in the skin colors for my fleet. The idea is that the shell exploding would serve as shrapnel, so the mines should be covered on all sides with it. These should be essentially free to make, especially if you buy a warrior kit to convert other units from (biovores in particular). If you need to buy the parts, you'll come out WAY cheaper than GW's $2.50/spore price tag.
