ok so a few weeks ago me and my friends were talking warhammer when my girlfriend walks into the group and asks what we're talking about. I explain the gist of the game but expected her to shrug if off as weird and nerdy. a few days later when we're chilling on the couch watching tv she asks me to explain more about warhammer, as you can imagine I was all over the it. ;D ;D
she listened as i described the 40k universe and the multitude of races fighting for dominance, I explained the painting and modelling as being the first thing that had attracted me to the game and how I quickly grew into a lover of not only the modelling but actual table top games as well.
after a while of listening she said "you should teach me sometime"
;D ;D ;D gasp ;D ;D ;D I was sooo happy. She hasn't even seen the models, or a codex or anything from the game and she wanted me to teach her, wow.
sooo a few days ago I set up a game, space marines vs space marines to keep it simple with two lists pre set. I explained the basics of a codex and what the stats on each model stood for. I also explained a basic over view of the phases of a turn. Then I let her figure the rest out.
Of course I helped her a bit but for the most part she figured it out by herself. I would show her various rules and options when the situations presented themselves. by the end of the game she could complete an entire turn by herself without assistance. ;D ;D I'm soooo proud.
anyways now she wants to get into warhammer and collect an army, haha I'm possibly the luckiest guy around, or at least I feel as such. ;D ;D ;D
anyways I just had to share that, I'm sure there have been similar experiences out there but I'm just soooo happy right now ;D ;D ;D
cheers.
