Looted Wraithlord WIP [update 8/18/11]

Right, so after I finished my looted Leman Russ www.the-waaagh.com/forums/?showtopic=49847 <-- Here I had a good time so I decided to loot something else. After talking with the guys at the game store I finally picked something to loot, a Wraithlord! In the end it is going to be a Deff Dread but it may take a bit more time than just slapping Plasti-card onto a tank. So here is what I got so far, thoughts? Opinions?

I really like the idea of a looted Wraithlord. It's hard to tell from these pictures but it looks good so far. As for suggestions, I would try and work in a grot as a pilot for the thing. I think it would be pretty funny to have one of those little buggers piloting a sacred Eldar machine. Also for the sword I would make it look like it was patched together with sheets of metal and bolts like on the ork tanks. And try and make it look as crude as possible.

Thanks for the suggestions! As for the pilot I am actually using a mek boy, though I did think about using a grot for that. And that's exactly what I am doing with the sword! Slapping spikey plate of metal on it to make it look really evil, so far it is coming along nicely. I am just glad I have the day off for this .

A mek boy would be more logical anyway. It sounds like you're off to a good start. I don't know if you wanted sugestions for the base as well but I might have a few ideas.

Well it all depends on your modeling skills and how much time u want to put into it. My first idea for the base would be to have an eldar model (guardian, farseer, etc.) pulling on the leg of the wraithlord like they were trying to keep the oks from taking it. You could even have a whole bunch of them in a line, connected, trying to stop it. If you want a comical base that is.

What about instead of a mekboy you used a weirdboy?
Wreithlord is Psychically powered after all.

@ doomthumbs: Interesting idea, but I think the mek boy would be the best option just because it is the meks that loot, not really the weirdboyz. And I already have the mek boy in place

I would be tempted to add a load of wiring to the Wraithlord because simply 'killing' it and looting it isn't going to be enough for you to pilot the construct. The Wraithlords and Guards are powered by psychic energy and not buttons, so the Weirdboy idea would make a lot of sense in terms of fluff backing (to an extent anyway, Eldar equipment can detect the psychic signature of users and will refuse to work for non-Eldars).

Though it's up to you if you want to be that involved with the Eldar background.

Very interesting statement. I think I am still going to stick with the mek boy but I do like the idea of a lot of wires sticking out of it... now I just been do find a place that sells fine enough wires for this guy... I'm thinking Hobbytown USA or Home Depot. for this.

I like, I like it! The sword especially. I might suggest adding a few more random teeth to it. It looks a little bit too "orderly" for orks. Also I second carados with the wires idea. Also, you could put some severed heads of eldar on spikes, sticking out of the wraithlord's chest piece.

try and get some rivets in there as well, so you can see where the teeth have been bolted onto the sword (and the other various plates on the model). In my mind that's one of the quintessential 'Orky' features.
