So for the past while (probably a couple months actually) I've been fooling around with paint schemes, techniques, you know just having fun.
Recently I got onto a customize and paint special characters theme this is what Ive come up with in the past while.
So this first character, a chaplain involved a lot of customization, I green stuffed the helmet and a few other areas. The Crozius Arcanum was made using the shaft of the power axe from the assault marine kit, while the top part was made from two vehicle details pieces. I also customized the skull on the shoulder pad.
The paint job on this guy I like but i don't think is great, he was the first in the collection and so had the least skill involved while painting him, even so I think he turned out rather well. On this guy I tested highlights and a bit of blending.
And now I present Chaplain Marcus Dome the keeper of secrets
Next up we have a marine with a big blade.
This guy I originally intended to be a grey knight brotherhood champion, he still fits the profile I'm just not painting the rest of my grey knights to match.
His paint scheme was an attempt at changing the classic grey knight scheme into something a bit more colorful. Again I really like the final effect but I just don't think I did the best job I could have done. It was on this guy that I really played around with washes and layering, still need to work on my technique.
His custom blade was made using a warding staff (I think that's what it's called) and a terminators nemesis force sword blade. I then extended the handle slightely to balance it out as well as adding some purity seals. I swapped heads also to keep the uniform grey knight head look.
I now present Brother hood champion Niel Bishop defender of battle barge flight of justice.
The last character that I present to you is my all time favorite. He used the most variety of painting techniques, the most amount of time, and the least amount of customization.
This force commander was painted for a devastator company I'm painting called "The Imperial Hammers" a sister chapter to the imperial fists. I customized him by swapping his head for captain sicarius' head. I then gave him a powerfist from the assault marines box and a plasma pistol.
His paint scheme was built off of the imperial fists but with a few changes. I made yellow a secondary color rather than the focus making it less bold. I added in more metal and used black for a primary color. On this model I used pleanty of washes, highlights, and made my first attempt at battle damage, which I think turned out quite good. All in all he is my favorite and I'm quite pleased with the final effect.
I present Tactical Commander O'niel Rep'tor master strategist during the battle of the 7 hills.
and that concludes my post, any C&C are of course welcome.
NOTE: all bases are unfinished, ideas and suggestions are welcome.
cheers.
