Kroot Mercinary Family -update april 6th-

ok so not quite a horde, only 13 thus far but I have 11 more in the shop and a friend is selling his 25 kroot to me soon.

So here we go, over the past year or so I've been working on conversions and a paint scheme for my kroot for my up and coming tau empire. I've managed a bunch of different weapon types and looks for the kroot and now have a, in my opinion ideal kroot color scheme.

time to meet the family.



allow me to draw your attention towards the specific unit types in the family.
first up is an assassin unit

then we have the sniper team

and we also have the hunters

and lastly the mercenaries, the regular unit option with no change to their weapons.

then we have our special character types
we have my version of a master shaper

and now for the newest model that I actually finished working on today, he's what I'm calling a supreme shaper, a shaper above and beyond all others, he usually coordinates the business transactions and when the situation requires his supreme combat and tactical experience, he is the one that trains all master shapers.






He will lead my kroot into battle for many generations.

I have two more kroot in the shop that are only a few hours away from completion, they are both part of the assassins guild. They will be coming out in the next couple of days then more kroot to appear. I will update on my progress on the kroot family as much as possible.

I'm mostly looking for feedback on the conversions and the paint scheme that I've chosen.

I've thought about it but I don't really have a lot of extra money floating around, plus I live in Canada and the shipping costs just aren't worth it.

ok so I finished my next two kroot, the assassin brothers.

which is surprising considering I usually don't finish this many units so close together. weird.

so I present to you the next two member to my family.

So I'm quite with the way these guys turned out however I did have a slight glue-splosion on the second guy, I wiped mos of it off without taking any of the paint off with it, gladly, but this a big shiny section just below his trigger hand side elbow. -sadness- luckily enough, if you're not looking for it you won't find it.

Like the look of it, are you using as part of a tau rmy or as a "Count as" one? And i hear you 120$ CAD for a single Reaver Titan arm! AS IF! Ty FW i think ill make my own!

ya I'm using them is a tau army, I just like the idea of the kroot having their own levels of leadership and different unit types. But ya their all just regular kroot mercs in game.

Ha ha! I love the assassins. I can't really see the glue at all so don't worry about it. I'm short of money too but if I get some more, I'll have to buy some stuff. It's just soooo expensive!

You should make a sniper team with camo jackets and ghillie type suits. Easy enough to make with a bit of plastic and some static grass.

lol that would be funny. But I think you might be onto something their, maybe a larger type cloak and a wrapped gun for effect.

ya that would be cool, I'll see what I can do.

unfortunately a squad of marines has distracted me causing the kroot to be shelved for a short time. I'll finish up with the marines then I'll get back to the kroot.

I don't think the snipers will be to effective when their barrels are ten feet long, on the flip side the won't need to waste ammunition just hook the guys as they walk by, "Hey and now Franks gone too..."
