As we all know a lot of the in game mechanics of 40k don't make much sense. But this always leaves me wondering how certain units would act in battle during a game.
Dark Eldar Mandrakes, for example, deploy ala Lictor rules meaning they can't assault when they come on to the board. That doesn't make much sense but that, combined with their ridiculously baggy pants, always leads me to think of the following scenario.
Imagine if you will:
A squad of Ultramarines are charging through a shadowy forest. At their feet lie the corpses of their fallen brothers and enemy Dark Eldar.
The Sargeant barks an order and his men move into a dim clearing and begin to search the area.
As the Sargeant turns to look at his squad a pair of green eyes, aflare with ethereal fire open from within the canopy behind him. One of the Marines sees them and yells in alarm.
The squad turn to fire but the Mandrakes are already inchs away from them, blades bared, before they have time to react. And as the Sargeant screams awaiting his sudden end a gutteral voice cries, "STOP!".
The Mandrakes immediately stop in their tracks at their leader's order.
"IT'S HAMMER TIME!"
Funky MC Hammer music fills the clearing as the Mandrakes begin to dance in their baggy pants in the signiture Hammer style. Some even freestyling.
The Marines watch, mouths gaping, in awe and confusion. Finally one of them raises his bolter and shoots one dead. The music cuts off.
As the rest of the squad regain their grip on reality they follow suit and rapid fire the remaining Mandrakes until none remain standing.
"Well. That was weird..." mutters the Sargeant as he gathers his men and leaves.
Anyone else ever imagine these sort of quirky scenarios? If so post them below.
