Kay so I wrote as a bit of a story and I realize that a few of the things contained in the chapters fluff are a bit odd so bear with me.
After the defeat of the traitor horus and downfall of the emperium chapters started to pop up across the empire in the hope keep the enemies of the emperor out of the empire. One such chapter was the Sentenza Marines, a small chapter consisting of 7 companies and a small fleet. But small as it was they were greatly feared by the forces of chaos.
A small chaos strike force lead by a chaos sorcerer infiltrated the inner sanctum of chapter master Jauras in his battlebarge Quest for Light. The chapter master was found meditating with know guards, and was easily subdued. The chaos soldiers did not kill the chapter master but only restrained him.
The sorcerer was clad in black armor with the shapes of skulls protruding from its surface like souls trying to escape. His blood red cloak fell to the ground where its razor tipped edges sliced the metal floor. His head was bare showing his cold dark eyes and cruel scars from countless battles. In his right hand was wicked sword with notched edges and a curved end. Runes were etched into the hilt and blade of the sword as well and shoulder pads of his armor.
The sorcerer stretched out his hand towards the chapter masters head as he uttered words of great power. When his hand connected with the chapter masters forehead the dark influence of chaos was absorbed into Jauras. He writhed on the ground for 3 minutes as he attempted to fight its influence but he wasn't strong enough and was overcome. When he stood glint of chaos was in his eyes and chaos party and sorcerer were gone.
Chapter Master Jauras led the Sentenza marines for another year and 2 months infecting the rest of the chapter and tainting their gene seed. After such time many marines had started to notice the unusual and chaotic behavior of their chapter master. The marines confronted the chapter master about his behavior requesting Inquisition intervention. When they mentioned the inquisition Jauras was over come with rage and was transformed into a chaos daemon. The marines were ready for a struggle and had brought their power swords but the daemon was powerful and they were all but one destroyed. The survivor raised the alarm and the chapters full might was brought against the daemon on the surface of a local planet. When the beast was finally defeated 1 whole company had been lost and the rest tainted by chaos.
Fearing that the grey knights would purify the chapter by destroying it the sentenza marines alienated themselves from the empire. They found refuge on a planet mostly consumed by magma that flowed from vast crevasses and high mountains. Wanting purification and freedom from the lingering chaos influence the entire chapter marched through a lake of boiling lava. An entire company was lost to the lake and not a single marine made it to the other side without injury but cost was freedom. This moment is the cause for the signature half melted armor of the Sentenza marines. The moment was known as The Great Releasing.
The chapter was then taken control of by a young commander, Magmus Curus the survivor from the first attack of the daemon that was Jauras. Magmus and his remaining Sentenza Marines went back to the empire but found they had been gone too long and were not welcome. The Inquisitors wanted them purified but instead the chapter was exiled. Many other chapters took pity on the Sentenza marines and have been known to call upon their services, (off the record of course) among these are the ultramarines, blood angles and Imperial fists.
The Sentenza marines have managed to stay at full strength threw the recruitment of the top marines from other chapters, (with the permission of the chapters chapter masters) and have been aiding the empire in ways unrecognized by the inquisition.
The chapters color scheme evolved over this time to its current scheme. Dark but not quite black armor, glowing red edges and the signature melted armor from The Great Releasing.
So that's the fluff for my new chapter what do you guys think?
cheers.
