Ok, now that my birthday is over, I've decided to get one thing for my tyranids, and one thing for my extra marine army. This is the army I let other people borrow (especially my Dad) and I have found it to be a bit lacking.
Here's what I've got so far: A drop pod, three tactical squads (with a chainsword/pistol sarge, flamer, and missle launcher), and from black reach a captain, a dreadnaught, and 5 termies.
*Here's my ideas so far*:
1.) A predator with 3 las cannons. Pretty strait foward. I think this list is a bit lacking against monstrous creatures and other tanks. But still, it seems kind of boring.
2.) A rhino or razorback. Mostly because my dad likes the model. I don't know how useful one transport would be. Although the razorback could provide some useful anti-tank like the predator, and get people around. And I might be able to zoom in and melta stuff from the hatch on a rhino.
3.) A new set of termies. That way I would have some extra bits to throw around. I could have one squad with the cyclone missle launcher, and one with the assault cannon.
4.) A new dreadnaught. Similar logic to the termies. I was thinking I would use the bits to make one dread a twin-linked las/missle launcher dread, and the other could be an Iron clad with the close combat weapon and seismic hammer. I was thinking I could fashon the hammer with some imagination and crushing claw bits. And I think a heavy flamer would be fun too ;D.
5.) Scouts: Me and my dad like the models too, and there are obvious advantages to snipers and the like. I'm not crazy about the hellfire shell, it just doesn't seem that great. But it's not like I have to take it ;D. I like how they can scout ahead.
6.) Scout bikers: Cool models, cool rules. They can outflank like the normal scouts, but that would be useful for the bikers, because they then could procede to do something, as normal scouts have heavy weapons mostly. These guys can booby trap a terrain peice, and carry some fun things like an astartes grenade launcher, or melta bombs.
7.) A.... landraider. I tell myself it's only 20 bucks more then some of the other stuff I'm willing to buy, but I like 20 bucks. It's nice. Honestly I think it would be more interesting if I never used one.
8.) A landspeeder. Mostly because it's really cool. And they can take several different kinds of weapons. There's the multi-melta for tanks, a heavy flamer for swarms, and everything in between. It's a bit fragile though .
9.) And last but not least, a command squad for the captain. I have a couple ideas, but they just seem to cost a lot of points.
-There's always bikes. T5 with feel no pain isn't shabby, but if you add anything after that it gets expensive.
- 5 plasma guns! I believe they get their feel no pain if it gets hot, and that would be fun to watch.
-Close combat. You can give them all power weapons, lightning claws, power fists, and thunder hammers, and a storm shield to boot. But I don't know, could they really be that reliable when there are only 5 of them? Maybe if I threw in the captain too (I wonder if he can take a plasma gun ;D).
*What do you think sirs?*
