Hello All,
I've recently gotten back in to 40k afters years away. My collection is all over the place but my first army is Tyranids and I'm sitting on boxes worth of bits that have gathered in my basement over the years. For the past month I've been stripping/rebuilding my old stuff and adapting it to a new scheme.
I'm setting up this thread to get a pic of each unit as they're finished. With any luck, it will help keep me focused
Termagants
These gaunts were my first exercise with the new paintjob, and I changed my mind on the wash halfway through. Some have a darker carapace than others.
Rippers
Next up was a unit of rippers: part of my committment to bust out some tedious units before settling in to single projects
Carnifex
This guy is a labor of love: fully magnetized and reposed. I look forward to creating a full brood of these bad boys with extra weapon and head options:
Mycetic Spore
I was in the middle of my next project (magnetizing tyranid warrior arms) when I stumbled across a plastic mini football amongst all my other junk. Solved the mystery of how I would represent my spores on the table
Warriors
With my warriors I wanted to preserve the option of changing their loadout so I magnetized both sets of arms. After the magnets were set, I had trouble fitting the deathspitter arms together so I added a small pin to the joint between them.
Tyranid Prime:
I sifted through the bottom of my bits box to make this guy. The lash whip arm is magnetized so that I swap between whip and dual boneswords depending on situation.
Omni-gon:
I picked up a Trygon/Mawloc kit today and couldn't decide which variant to build so decided to build them all in one. The entire kit is held together by magnets and removable pins. Shown below in Mawloc mode and "Bits" mode.
Exocrine / Tyrannofex
The first of my big old bugs to get the Terracide treatment (mainly because I use him so frequently that his old scheme stood out like a sore thumb. That and because his previously flesh-colored rupture cannon inspired Freudian terror in my opponents and quickly earned him the nickname "Gentleman Parts Cannon")
As in, "take 3 more armor saves on your (please do not swear) cannon"
Anyway,
As you can see, I have my work cut out for me:
WIP: Magnetic Swarmlord Zeta
Used some thicker magnets on this bug to enable swapping in pewter bits in the future, in case I want to evolve Zeta to a Hive Tyrant, or the Swarmlord goes the way of the Red Terror in some future edition.
Group Shots:
Future updates to come...
Thanks for looking!
