Man that 2nd Ed Tyrant looks dinky next to the newer ones. I really like the old design, though.

And, as usual, you've done a great job painting all of them up, even the 3rd ed one, which I don't normally like much.

Is it just me, or do 90% of all past edition nid models look horrible? (ESPECIALLY FEXES, OMG)

I hope you include the red terror in the 10% left.
The scything talons of the 3rd ed has always botherd me. They look like the HT is never going to be able to lift them. Or look how stupid his head look like. 2nd or 4th are better. Carnies looked horrid in the 3rd ed too

it's all personal preference really. everyone can't like all editions. i do, but i am a rare case

I really like the 3rd and 4rth, but the 1rst edition tyrant while still up there isnt my favorite... Dang i want to get my hands on a 3rd edition tyrant...

Hah, but what model are talking about, the red terror, 2nd or 3rd ed HT?
If it was the 2nd you were talking about, it's probably because the moulds are to old now, and not up to date with the new more advanced machinery they use now a days or even brocken.
If you were talking about the 3rd. FW still make them, but in very poor quality resin, and in fact at FW, all they're models are.
If it was the red terror you were talking about, i have no clue. The red terror is great on the field and great on the shelf too!

as for poor quality resin? i think FWs models are cool, and i plann to get one or maybe two of their tyrants

Well done, Scizor. Great painting as usual, and I really appreciate how you are bringing the old models up to speed with a new paint job.

I think it's interesting to notice just how similar the 2nd and 4th edition tyrants are to each other. Both have similar heads, legs, bodies and back carapaces, with some noticible differences.

But the 3rd edition tyrant, its a whole different animal. It certainly suits the Flying Tyrant role much more than the 4th ed, with its crested head and (relatively) streamlined form. I love the face, looks so mean. Though I definetly agree with happybean, those talons just don't seem useable. The look kinda floppy.

Don't really remember what the 1st edition tyrant looks like tho...

Yes, i also agree that the 2nd and 4th are too stompy looking to be made believably aireborn.
I don't like the FW flyrant, because hes got only one pair of scything talons, and that's wrong!

What i was thinking about when i wrote about the red terror, was why didn't they include it in the new codex and/or made new model for it.
FW models might be very well sculted, but their casting material is....aaaahh, poo.
Not very professional and very fragile.
You certainly mastered the kraken sheme here.

there are no 1st ed tyrant, tyrants had no models or rules during the 1st edition. so the 2nd ed tyrant is actually the tyrants 1st ed

What i was thinking about when i wrote about the red terror, was why didn't they include it in the new codex and/or made new model for it.

i can agree to that, a new red terror could be nice!. old one eye are pretty much covered in the fex box though, by using regenerate and crushing claws etc, and maybe a little converting.

i'd imagine the new red terror being a bigger ravener just like it was in 3rd ed, but with a few changed details
