Okey Dokey. Colours are as follows (when I say 'all over' I include the base as well):
Oh, and I sand the base before I undercoat.
1)All over Graveyard Earth over a sprayed black undercoat.
2)All over Brown Ink wash.
3)Drybrush (I think it looks better on organic models) everything Bleached Bone.
4)Drybrush everything 3:2 Bleached Bone:Skull White.
5)Paint lines down the carapace, claws and hooves in Kommando Khaki. Leave a fair amount of brown showing at the top of each plate/hoof/claw.
6)As above with Bleached Bone (shorter lines to give a gradient to the colour).
7)As above with 3:2 Bleached Bone:Skull White.
8)Wash the whole model in 1:1 Brown Ink:Water. Be careful not to destroy the paint detail on the carapace with over zealous washing.
9)Drybrush the sanded base with the bone/white again.
10)Pick out the teeth in Skull White, tongue in Red Gore, Eyes in Scorpion Green (I did the eyes in White first to give a brighter green). If I can find an obscenely bright neon green then I'll redo the eyes in that... I like my opponent to see the eyes .
For the puddles I wanted to replicate the colour produced by tannins in peat bogs;
1) Roughly 2:1 Rotting Flesh:Graveyard Earth. Three or four smooth coats on the un-sanded sections. [you'll have to experiment with this because I can't remember the exact mix ]
2) Three 'blobbed' coats of pva for the watery effect.
3) As I said; after I varnish them I'll apply small areas of static grass, and cannibalize a stiff bristled yard brush for reeds.
et voila.
Once I've painted some bio-weapons I'll post the colours I decide on for that.
I'll also post some photo's of my Warriors when I finish these boyos (16 left ).
