Returning after a long time… no idea what I’m doing

Hi guys, it’s been forever.

I’m just returning to 9th as my friends decided I should 👀

I’ve been playing with the idea of the following list that basically just fights over the centre of the table but I’m struggling with secondaries.

It’s a pretty smooth brain list. Revolving around 2x9 warriors. One squad gets direct guidance and the tyrant buff. The other squad get the swarm lord buff. Both get alpha leader from the prime.

Your Warriors are 20pts more than they should be: 25x9 - 225, VC 3x5 - 15, total 240. I'd use the extra pts for AG on the warriors and TG. Otherwise, yea list should play itself to a lot of wins if the opponent tries to brawl back. I wouldn't expect this list to stay at 2000 pts for long though.

I'd take engage/strangle basically every game, Banners could be very good since your army is slow but hard to shift, and you have enough psykers to make WC secondaries easy to do without much downside. If Levi, investigate signal could be good to do with Warriors and still shoot.

Zoans cast bonus only applies to witchfires, I'd put Neuroparasite on them and Paroxysm on the Malceptor (it'll be getting charged a lot). You have enough CP that Barb should go on Neuro to give it Catalyst, Onslaught, Paroxysm. That way your best powers are safe, reliable, and able to go mostly anywhere if you maintain the links.

I had AG and fleshhooks on the warriors already, I dunno why the 40K app doesn’t show them.

Barb is a good shout, I’m gonna try it on Tuesday and see how it goes!

AG on the TG are more important than ever after the new data slate (the bodyguard rule has changed), and are better than FH on the Warriors imo.

Hmm, that’s a good point.

I’d not put them on because I just figured I’d leave them somewhere hidden out of LOS but close to the tyrants and there would be so much stuff in the middle of the board that the warriors or harpies would always be the closest models. I’ve probably underestimated just how much I’m going to need to move them!
