Behamoth 7CP 1990 pts —Patrol— Flyrant w/ LWBS, Maw Claws, AG Neurothrope w/ WL, Synaptic Tendrils 5x Warrior w/ 2xST, DS 4xZoanthropes 4xTyrant guard w/ ST/RC Harpy w/ HVC —Patrol— [-2CP] Flyrant w/ MST, Scythes of Tyran [-1CP] 5x Warrior w/ 2xST, DS Malceptor Harpy w/ HVC —Patrol—[-2CP] Swarmlord 5x Warrior w/ 2xST, DS
Psychic/Melee list looking to swap rr charges for Territorial pretty much every game. Harpies have -1 to-hit and Zoan imperative T1 if rolloff is lost and the Tyrants are safe and sound with the new bodyguards. I wanted warriors to be full melee originally, but guns seemed needed on synapse for 3d6 charges and helps Warriors contribute without committing everything forward. Really trying to play Obj control game hard with pretty much only the Neuro being unable to gain Obj Sec. I have a heavy Tau contingency here, so the list is focusing on how to deal with that over custodes.

I’m not sure about the Swarmlord. Maybe dump the second patrol to save on CPs and throw in more Warriors or something fast like Raveners or the Parasite or get some Venomthropes to cover your advance. -1 to hit really makes Tau cry as their precious markerlights are basically nullified by our hentai snakes. You can always give a Harpy Synapse to keep the flanking Raveners in order / synaptinc link coverage. Just my two cents

Just my two cents Swarmlord is there to provide Obj Sec to Zoanthropes or Tyrant Guard, and to double the Warrior body count. That is part of the custodes contingency, so its not really something I’d be willing to cut. I don’t really need more fast elements, 2xHarpy and 2x Flyrant all as 5 Obj Sec bodies should tick the speed box nicely. Synapse on a Harpy could be something I fill the last 10 pts with though, will at least not need a synapse babysitter for imperatives. Venomthropes could be an addition I work into the list, I have room for them by cutting 1 TG,1 Zoan, and AG off the LW Flyrant. However, I lose S 12 on the charge for the LW Tyrant which is big for going into custodes bikers. Not something I’m looking to change w/o trying the above list first, but something I’ll keep in mind for future tweaks. Thanks

I am not sure about the Maleceptor, providing you include the Venomthropes as defence tech. Probably replace it with an Exocrine which could act quit independently from the rest of the army or more fast violence in form of a trygon prime (with Monstrous Musculature). At the second Flyrant I would also take the Reaper over the Scythes, because of the potential s12 and the MW.

Custode bikes will tie it up T2 and Tau will likely delete it first since they can’t shoot the tyrants. Running it without the option for S9 and Tesla (strat + WarPrime) the turn is enters seems more meh than the distraction that the Maleceptor is acting as to draw heat from the Harpies. Built-in 4+ and Syanpse means Mal is more independent than the Exo, and I don’t plan to use the action much outside of T1/T2 when the Mal is >12” from enemy models. I may have to revisit the Reaper suggestion though, as I fudged the math previously. 4-5 MWs no CP and 5-7 MWs with the AG strat sounds like it could be a good swap. Thanks!

After realizing that I accidently included the HVC price on the Tyrants and that a Reaper Flyrant can wipe the floor with Aledari's new Phoenix lords, I've made the following changes:
Behemoth 7CP 1975 pts
—Patrol— -HQ- Flyrant w/ LWBS, AG, Maw Claws Neurothrope w/ WL, Synaptic Tendrils -Troop- 5x Warrior w/ DBS, DS, FH -Elite- 3xZoanthropes 3xTyrant Guard w/ ST, RC -Flyer- Harpy w/ HVC —Patrol— [-2CP] -HQ- Flyrant w/ LWBS, AG, Reaper of Obliterax [-1CP] -Troop- 5x Warrior w/ DBS, DS, FH -Elite- Malceptor Deathleaper Flyer- Harpy w/ HVC —Patrol—[-2CP] -HQ- Swarmlord -Troop- 5x Warrior w/ DBS, DS, FH
That leaves me enough pts to slap Enraged Reserves on the Malceptor, Dermic or Voracious on a Harpy, or upgrades on the Warriors. I also have the ability to drop 1x Zoanthropes and 1x TG to include either Deathleaper or 3x Venomthropes and still have 20pts for an AP or upgrades.
I'm also rethinking the ST on the Warriors, S8 BS are looking like a better option to have when spending 2CP for behemoth fight on death. I think it is something I want to try out, and maybe change the DS to Devs if I need to deal with larger units of chaff. I'm anticipating a lot of Warriors and Zoans in the mirror, so DS should have a good place unless the Codex final draft dropped gant/gaunt points.
I think I also like the 2 LWBS Flyrants even better after giving the LW strat a look. Between Horror and the strat, The Flyrants can force an early 2-for-1 CP trade to stop a terrible Morale/CA roll. Not something I'm planning to do often, but it will be a nice bonus to chuck at certain armies.
EDIT: after seeing what unit champions are defined as, Ive decided to add DL to the list to help gen CP and score Cranial. 20pts didn’t leave room for much, so I gave Flesh Hooks to the Warriors so they can hit on 2’s in melee.

Noticed that Harpies don’t lose aircraft keyword when hovering for the first time, and thus can’t hold objectives anymore. Not as high on them as I was before, and want to try a Mawloc in its place. 50pts meant either another Zoan/TG body, or a few APs. I think the APs benefit me more:
Behemoth 7CP 2000 pts
—Patrol— -HQ- Flyrant w/ LWBS, AG, Maw Claws Neurothrope w/ WL, Synaptic Tendrils -Troop- 5x Warrior w/ DBS, DS, FH -Elite- 3xZoanthropes 3xTyrant Guard w/ ST, RC -Flyer- Harpy w/ HVC, Voracious Ammo —Patrol— [-2CP] -HQ- Flyrant w/ LWBS, AG, Reaper of Obliterax [-1CP] -Troop- 5x Warrior w/ DBS, DS, FH -Elite- Malceptor w/ Enraged Reserves Deathleaper -Fast Attack- Mawloc w/ Synapse —Patrol—[-2CP] -HQ- Swarmlord -Troop- 5x Warrior w/ DBS, DS, FH

Final Change taking into account both Zimko and Stormcoil's experiences, sadly I think SL will be hitting the sidelines in the final test version of the list. Note I'm going to be testing this list for a few games since the Flyrants can easily swap to Walkrants with HVC. I'd swap adaptive to Direct Guidance and can just upgrade the Carnifex to ES and a tail option with the leftover points, so I think I'll be able to do a good comparison of how each work over several games. As long as the list doesn't fall apart in the first try, I won't be making any updates until after the codex drops or if someone has a good idea that fits well.
Behemoth [7CP]

Enhanced Senses is pretty mandatory if you're taking HVC on the fexes.

ES increases output by an avg 0.3 more failed saves vs 3+Sv and less against Invuls, so I wouldn't consider it mandatory. Carnifex are mainly there to take potshots and hold backfield Objs or screen deployment. 2x Fex just seemed like a better addition than an Exo because of S9 and 4D, and there really aren't spare points. Flyrants need their AGs for S12 on the charge, and I'd rather have synpase on Mawloc and FH on Warriors. They get ES in the Walkrant version of the list, as I can get one to 2+ rr 1's.
They could be an Exo and +1 Zoan, but I think I just want more HVCs and the only way is with Carnifex. I also wanted something other than warriors for the rr 1's from the Tyrants. Warriors will likely get it from T2+, but nothing benefitted from it on T1.
Edit: another reason I don't feel the need for an Exo is that the two Flyrants are well equipped to deal with whatever I'd point the Exo at.

Got in some games one with the last-mentioned list, and one where I traded out the Carnifex for another 5x Warriors, Enraged Reserves on Malceptor, and a 4th Zoan (maybe something AGs on various units to make up the difference). Both were ~90-60 wins for Nids. Some notes:
Enraged Reserves is definitely worth the points, the +1 CP is great and with so few attacks keeping the Mal on a 3+ helps (though maybe more-so in Behemoth with S8).
The Carnifex were okay, but I found I wanted more Warriors. I think with ES, SL, and a Tyrant with Guidance, just two Carnifex can put out some actual pressure.
Zoanthropes are very good, not great though. The second game I raised banners then Encircled them T1, and T2 saw them in the opponent's backfield... that was a big problem for them. I think with SL, they could easily steal the opponent's deployment objectives T3 just by existing. That would push them to great territory.
Flyrants/Harpies/Mawloc all played as expected, though I was a bit too agressive with the Mawloc both games. I was only able to deny opponent Primary before it was killed the next turn through transhuman and a 4++, though maybe the distraction was one of the reasons for victory.
Deathleaper... I will never make a list without. First game I took Cranial and he gen'd the only CP (off sgts) and killed 3 for 6/13 VP (opponent may have misplayed not pulling Sgts from shooting imo). Second game I tried other secondaries, so he was on Objective duty and scored me 8 VP and denied the opponent 4VP. I'm looking at taking Deploy Homers and Behind Enemy Lines more, instead of Engage (I took both games due to Harpies scoring it), and DL should be able to help more with those.
For the list moving forward, I want to add more backfield disruption. PoM /w Sac looks like a great fit into a Behemoth fleet.
***Patrol*** Flyrant: HVC, Shardgullet -- 205 [-1CP] Neuro: WL, Synaptic Tentrils -- 100 [-1CP] 5x Warriors w/ 4xDBS, 1x BSLW, 5xDS -- 125 5x Warriors w/ 4xDBS, 1x BSLW, 5xDS -- 125 Malceptor w/ Enraged Reserves-- 195 Deathleaper w/ Alien Cunning -- 95 [-1CP] Mawloc w/ Synapse -- 135 Parasite of Mortex w/ Gestation Sac -- 80 [-1CP] Harpy: HVC -- 170 Harpy: HVC -- 170 3x Tyrant Guard: BC, LW, RC -- 120 3x Zoanthropes -- 150

Pls pls pls test this list. Its exactly wht l wanna run. I was thinking of 2x10 gargs + pow with sac for RND and stranglehold. Pow + sac can take care of midfield strangehold for the first couple of turns on his own, meaning our castle doesnt have to move and they have to commit. We dont need 30" moves cus we dont need to charge anymore. We can sit on our objectives with all buffs, and then just keep them off of theirs with mawloc + DL.

I was thinking of 2x10 gargs and pow but mawloc + pow + dl is insane Gargs are probably our best troop after Warriors, but they can't hold objectives. The Obj Sec only helps them Deny Primary. My main opponent is SWs, so they aren't denying squat haha. 2x Garg looks very good for doing RND or Deploy Homers. I don't actually own Gargoyles, otherwise I'd be trying them out since they are the closest unit we have to GT2021 Lictors.

I want to love Deathleaper but I'm on the fence. My most common opponent is good at screening out deepstrikers and Deathleaper would be reduced to fighting in the front lines or do some backfield action.
Same with the Parasite. How do you intend to play him? Turn 2, arrive on forward objective, spawn Ripper Swarms, hopefully charge and kill or reduce enemy models and grab the objective. Next turn, opponent kills your flimsy Parasite and Rippers and take the objective back.

I’ve never had any problems deepstriking one 40mm base, if enough pressure is mid-board the opponent has to come forward. If Parasite goes Mid-board, Id just put it behind something with character protection and wait a turn to use the 16” Mv to go deep. DL works very well as an anti deepstrike as well, 6” at home means it can reclaim objectives pretty easily. PoM and DL are tactical pieces that require a bit of creativity and patience to use well. Gargoyles can do the job of being shoved onto a forward objective.
