Honestly, when I was making this list I didn't expect it to go as well as it did. I've had 2 games versus Astra Militarum and won them without breaking a sweat. Both games finished with opponent surrendering at the end of T3. Pointwise, in both games I was at 95+, while my opponent was at 35-40.
The idea behind the list was to use Psyhic phase as secondary shooting phase, and to use Neurothrope + Zhoantrope to dominate the center of the map, while scoring easy 15 pts through Psy Ritual.
I was expecting to struggle, since my opponent always brought tons of infantry to the table but I wanted to "feel" the Psychic heavy list since I was doing extremely poorly against the Necrons. Weirdly enough, this time I was against heavy mech Astra: Commander Pask + 2 tanks, 3 Chimeras, Valkyre, Wywern, and a few Armored Sentinels. The rest were guardsmen with flamethrowers, with one veteran and one specialist squad (flamers).
And let me tell you, even with average psychic rolls I was dishing out 10 mortal wounds per turn, while Zhoantropes were impossible to remove from the middle of the board supported by the -1hit from Venomthropes and healing from Neurothrope.
It didn't help my opponent that the Swarmlord got re-deployed and double advanced+Onslaught; killing Pask on the 1st turn (Smite+melee). Second game was similar, he did provide screens for his tanks, but Metabolic Overdrive on Zhoantropes enabled them to snipe the Armored Sentinel (targeting closest visible enemy unit), providing opening to the Swarmlord to double Advance + Onslaught again and tag Chimera and another tank.
I was also very well surprised by Dynamic Camouflage on my Devilgants. 30 wounds of -1 hit (Venomthropes), 4+ save, 6++ proved too tough cookie for the Guard, even when the flamers got up close and did their thing.
Upcoming games: I expect heavier screens from my Astra opponent, as I will be informing him I'll bring the same list. Also, I went first both games and in the next 2-3 games I will choose to go second, just to see what will happen after I lose a few key units.
The secondary objectives were: "Psychic ritual", "Engage on all fronts", with both "While we stand, we fight" and "Bring it down" working out very well as third choice.
TLDR; 305 points of Psychic (Neuro + 4x Zhoans) proved to be better than I expected, scoring 15 points with ease while dominating the center of the battlefield.
