Lots of double dima lists floating around out there, and with good reason. What if you could make you significantly more survivable and a very neat piece of combat tech and some mortal wounds?
I think harpies could have a place in a double Dima list. Dima's are so powerful because of their ability to run so far turn 1 and control the middle of the board. Pinning an opponent in their deployment zone with a turn 1 Dima charge is incredibly powerful. But it always sucks to have your opponent just fall back and open fire with everything they've got at it. BUUUUT...
If you have a harpy, then you a third unit (or second if you fail onslaught) that can turn 1 charge; except this one doesn't need a swarmlord or any CP investment to move that far. 30" movement is fast enough to turn 1 "boop" an opponent's ranged support unit, allowing you "turn off" that unit's shooting for a turn. They're not nearly as tough as a Dima, but who would be wasting shots on a harpy when there's 2 Dima's in your grill... And if they do, then great! Because Harpies are still 12 wounds. That's actually pretty good.
I've just gotten back into warhammer after a pretty long hiatus from 8th (because 8th was soooo boring), and I think a harpy could be an extremely valuable support piece for these turn 1 charge lists that could perform even better if the big threat were still on the table turn 2. I'd love to hear if people have experimented with this, or why this is a garbage-trash idea.
