GSC points changes only mean one thing

Aren't ya running Goliaths (both Trucks and Rockgrinders versions) yet? GO FOR IT! The reduction in points (10 for the Trucks and 15 for the Rockgrinder) in addition to Bring it Down changes will definitely change a little in how GSC might approach the game (ground-presence based with deployment tricks that Vehicles use particurarly well with Blips).
Not gonna say RIP HF Acolytes since it's a 10/20 points per unit increase but I can definitely see a more diverse approach rather than spamming them and hoping for an unprepared opponent

Still doesn't stop it all from disintegrating when AT (or Primaris) looks at it. I have been a huge advocate for making trucks work, they don't.

Goliaths stuggle from identity crisis, Autocannon at 48" but troops that want to be <12" Grinder too. Has transport stats but tank M". Does neither well.

Have made it to combat with 1 Grinder all of 9th. Killed a Primaris then died to retaliation.

Brood Bros costing same as Neos is odd.

HWT/Tanks/Chimera all changed and are still irrelevant without interaction.

Hand flamer bombs can just use points cut from ol' character spam that costs roughly 60 for nothing.

Aberrants dropped 20 and another 10 for 2 signs!? Is that a misprint or did they drop in points? They only have ever gone up..

Abbies dropped in points, but only 2 (all configs). Were 22 ppm, now 30 with picks baked in.

I have played now "pure" GSC since 8th edition (started at 7th edition to make them fun side faction to my Tyranids, and as same time combining my old IG-army to one army faction. How cool would that be?).


I have played with my gaming group semi-competive (no WAAC mentality all the time), and
I am no means veteran player, I have some games 9th edition mostly against Space marines and Chaos.
And I know, that Genestealers are "specialist" army. You have to choose your aspect to your army, because you cannot get everything. One of the reasons I like and hate Genestealer Cult at the same time: Every Creed have their uses, but you cannot mix them effectively.
But I must say, when I checked point FAQs, that I am little bit interested.

Goliaths have always been like transport, that cost too much and dies too easily. so about ten percent from price tag is welcomed sight for me.
When I have used Goliaths, they have been firesupport vehicles and I have seen that they are not. If you want fire support vehicle, we already have them: Achilles Ridgerunner. So instead thinking, that they would sit on back like ridgrerunners, you should put your melee units inside.
We can use our Shenanigan with blibs: Ambush marker to edge of you deployment zone, deploy your vehicle little bit outside your deplyoment zone to get extra inches to get your units in position.
Now I have thought of using three abberrant-units in my list (one 10 and two 5s) and putting them to two goliaths and one rockgrinder.
You can also use your perfect ambush to move your vehicle slightly closer, then unload your close combat unit to make desperate leap of faith for their first turn charge. Of course, this is not tactic to use in every game you encounter, but it's different approach to your second turn alpha strike.

But to the point: Aberrants had point decrease. I like this one. Aberrants got so many point increases in past two years, that it's welcomed sight to have this one. Are they must takes now? Not at all, they don't even have obj sec rule, but you can get some more points for your army to elsewhere.
Acolytes' handflamer increase is understandable. Handflamers to Acolytes are not nobrainer with this. Atleast I have seen theese Pauper prince lists with 80~ handlfamer acolytes. That's hell of a lot of flames.
Metamorph hybrids did not get handflamer increase, but they cost too much to see any use.
I feel little bit sad about brood brother-infantry squads and heavy weapon squads. Even though idea was to cut copy paste price tag from Astra Militarum unit points, (And Astra Militarum infantry squads are CHEAPER) I feel like, if you want to run brood brothers, you have to take Brood Brother detachment. Why would you want to have deep striking infantry squads or heavy weapon teams, if you could get Astra ones with awesome orders and stratagems? My thoughts exactly.
There is one model, that rised my interest: Cult Chimera. It now costis now 65 from 85(?)! That's like really cheap for durableish heavy bolter platform (if you compare other cult possibilities).
If it's possible to have dedicaded transports for neophytes (they don't need to be inside them, chimeras are only for firesupport against two/multi wound units), I would include a pair.

Of course, these are my opinions, what I have experienced, and I am not presenting them as absolute truth. Our gaming group have good vibe, so our games are not as comparable, as games in other enviroments.

You can't deploy outside your zone with blips. Your model has to be fully in your deployment when blips are used.

You can't embark neophytes in chimeras, so my interest in them ends there as I don't have guard.

I personally don't see cult as getting a good enough boost out of the FAQ and points change. They are still hampered by the lack of CP, army restrictions (one character per detachment), and infantry that are either overcosted or not durable enough.

False, any other model OTHER THAN the first has to be put fully in your deployment zone but if the first model is also the unit itself (i.e. any transport), aside from putting itself within 1" you can stretch it OUTSIDE the deployment zone

I disagree with you on RAI. GW is notoriously bad at FAQs in a timely manner, even when they get emailed multiple times about a single issue.

They even specified how Cult Ambush worked AGAIN when they printed The Greater Good PA supplement even when questioned multipled times.
It's 100% intentional since it's also only doable by single unit models that aren't characters for the most part

You can't PA a vehicle.

It costs 10 pts for the HB (and HF): it's 75 with ML/HB, 85 with double HB or HF.

Reprinting the rule the exact same way just means they can find the copy/paste keys on their keyboard, not that they read anything or actually thought about anything.

You only need be within 1" of the blip when you are revealed, so you can jam the goliath pretty far up unless they faqd that.

I have 4 of these G trucks, and I would love to think I can do something with them. But even with blip shenanigans, the identity crisis Hive fleet Bahamut mentioned is too acute. I think the Rockgrinder is even worse, as it has to navigate terrain to get within a decent charge distance.

Abbys are still terrible. Flamer acos are more expensive. So yeah, all in all ? Keep it casual with GSC, just like you did for more than a year. Perhaps spamming infantry will end up being counter meta to the point of actually working... Who knows...

This change did nothing to help. Trucks are still trash, Aberrants still cost around 300 and nothing was done to hedge any restrictions. Sort of putting a drop of water on a fire. Didn't even sizzle.

This army is garbage on the tabletop right now. Are you playing Astartes yet?
