Impulsors lose their 4++ (down to 5++ and 6pts cheaper).

Aggressors lose both shots AND double shooting! But their flamers go up to 12" range and they get 'Core' keyword, along with Emiminators.

To sum it up, good news for nid hordes.

They only lost double shoot: they have 2 boltstorm gauntlets now with 3 shots, rather than 1 set with 6. So good, but not 'the unit is pointless' good .

I think Heavy Intercessors are not going to be good against hordes. They don't have any high rate-of-fire weapons like auto bolt rifles, and they don't get more attacks in close combat than regular intercessors. They're also more expensive than regular intercessors, making ObSec much more expensive for Marine players that go all-in on the heavy intercessors. Granted, they'll be much more difficult to kill for a pretty decent chunk of our army (Exocrines with the +1 damage strat are really the primary model not super affected), but an army that replaces their intercessors with heavy intercessors will probably be much easier to bog down with a horde.

I'm not that worried about Heavy Intercessors. I don't think we will see many of them since most marine lists will still stick to spending the least point possible on Troops because everything else is so good.
Instead of scouts we will now likely see the normal (now 2W) marines.

Summary from Goonhammer:

-Scouts are no longer Troops, but elites.

-aggressors nerfs most have already seen (no- double shoot).

-centurions nerfed to ground, and they weren’t seeing competitive play in favor of aggressors anyway.

-grav devastators are D2, and more importantly lost their re-roll strat.

-vehicles aren’t core outside of dreadnoughts, so not a lot of re-rolls for vehicles.

-thunderfire cannons lost strength on their gun to be 4 (but they like cents weren’t seeing much competitive play anyway)

-primaris vehicles lost fly and now need to spend CP to get -2 to charge.

-impulsers are at a 5++

-master artisan trait only grants 1 type of re-roll. A major nerf to salamanders and custom chapters which were top tier chapters.

-eradicators now can’t advance and double shoot. Eradicators got buffs as well so they will still be staples, but this is actually kinda of annoying for white scars which now seem like the best chapter by far.

Chapter master only affects one unit

Dreadnoughts don't get bolter discipline

No double shoot for executioners

Eliminators lost +1 to hit and wound

Eliminators lost fall back after overwatch

Eliminators lost ignore Line of Sight

Aggressors can't advance without penalty

Litanies can't affect non-core non-character units

Psychic powers can't affect non-core non-character units

Speaking of explodes Dreads down a tier for boom. 1MW then 1-3 instead of 1-3 then 1-6

Lots of interesting changes. Hopefully every codex gets this level of attention to minor tweaks.

I would be surprised if this interaction survives the first FAQ/errata.

Overall the codex seems to be much more balanced than previous iterations, albeit definitely still at the very strong end of the spectrum. I'm not looking forward to all the eradicator spam, however.

While I’m not sad about the aggressor nerf I don’t understand the buffs to eradicators and BGV that were already autoincludes. Otherwise overall a good job from GW reigning in the worst offenders and hopefully opening up for more varied and balanced list (chief apothecary and ATV revival after it blows up being the obvious lol interaction)

So aggressors will likely be faded out in favor of other anti-infantry shooting, but the gravis melta bois are still as good as before, non-dreadnaught vehicles are basically across the board weaker... what do you think will be the SM go-to anti infantry unit now? Just more tacticals/intercessors/heavy intercessors? The ATVs? Some kind of drednaught?
