Swarmlord must become a Lord of War

With all these Lords of War popping up, such as Mama Smurf, Thraka, Mortarion, Silent King, I think its about time our boy the Swarmlord got upgraded as well, given in lore (without (please do not swear) plot writing) he's an absolute beast when he shows up. I feel that Swarmlord needs it to go tow to tow with other big leaders. Who knows if GW decides to have Leviatan invade Terra. He can get new model, new stats and abilities, I mean lets face it who here actually USES Swarmlords warlord trait?

I can literally remember when I did last, mid way through 8th, my buddies ork list had those dammed FW auto flamers so I baited them to the side to wipe him then placed him beside my genestealers after he fell for it.

But that was my army, swarmy stealers and a shooty fex.

I'm going to be like a broken record by the time 10th hits. Swarmlord will stay delegated to the mini boss on the way. He is basically just a hiccup to Marneus, how he would fight a Primarch is beyond me.

10th will see a new organism take lead in the form of our infamous "Hivelord" (Following GW knightly ties to naming we have Brood-Swarm-Hive) It will be some sort of horrid Diorama with dumb rules like +2Ld to fearless models etc.

In lines with the above, I'm wondering what our eventual terrain piece do. Thus far, they've largely been useless so probably a leadership buff if we're in synapse or something.

I support this assuming he gets a boost. As is the swarmlord is taken for his abilities over the units combat potential, which I admit it has alot of. That said the unit would need to be even more unique over a standard tyrant. Imo much like the red terror is as opposed to a ravenor. Related but absolutely not the same.

Seeing as they didn’t get rid of captain and lieutenant reroll auras, I want that in our HQ section.

The issue with reroll auras is that GW by design already baked reroll-1s-effects into various things all over the place.

Scytals let you reroll 1s to hit in melee. Kronos lets you reroll 1s to hit in shooting. Gorgon lets you reroll 1s to wound in melee. Large hormagaunt broods let you reroll 1s to wound in melee. Large termagant broods let you reroll 1s to wound in shooting. Tervigon lets termagants reroll 1s to hit in shooting.

Still, I guess it could happen. But I wouldn't expect it.

Also, if we get a unique structure, it will just be a terrain piece with Synapse and Shadow in the Warp. And cost like 150 points because "synapse and SitW you cannot get rid of is really really stronk!!"

That's fine. Reroll all is much more powerful than Reroll 1s. Since it would have to be in a new codex, the various Reroll 1 mechanics could be changed to something else, if not removed entirely.

I'd also like to see raveners become more useful. Either charge after advancing, or some type of large brood bonus, or really anything to bump up their lethality, since right now they just seem like warriors but way worse.

That's fine. Reroll all is much more powerful than Reroll 1s. Since it would have to be in a new codex, the various Reroll 1 mechanics could be changed to something else, if not removed entirely.

Oh, I agree. I just don't think that GW will put in the effort. Considering all the other design flaws that they have not addressed in various units, or only partially addressed ~2 years later by printing a unit-specific stratagem.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how much work GW actually put into the 9E codizes when SM/Necrons come out in October. Also, talk about missed opportunities with that release delay. And still no peep about the new FW books either.

What about chapters approval 2020? Is it updated by now??

i really miss the good old spore lord. but my guess is also that the swarmlord will move to the lord of war with our next codex. But i doubt it will change much on the profile. Maybe getting a reworked warlord trait and some minor nerfs, so he will be easier to kill for those standard melee focused space marine warlords. If he keeps his warlord trait as it is now and you have to field him as your warlord if you use him, cause he will become a supreme commander, then its a major nerf to him cause almost every other trait choice on other units would be more usefull.

at least they hinted some new and never before seen bioforms in the new rulebook on hive fleet ouroboris. Maybe the parasite will return the the hive or maybe its even something completely different. Or maybe its just nothing and we are waiting for models that will never arrive... like the mention of the tiamet structure in the last codex... nothing new about it since then.

Supreme commander maybe, lord of war no. No one would ever take him if he costs a bunch of CP plus losing his hive fleet trait.
