Biovores in 9th edition

Hey everybody. Just wanted to hear your opinion on running biovores in 9th edition? Would you consider running 6 or even 9 of them? I think they might be great for indirect shooting and even better with blocking enemy movement with the mines when they miss. Or do you think they are just too expensive for their 50 pts right now?

I for myself am thinking about running either 6 or 9 in my list.

If you can fit these 300 points in, then yes ! 6 is the most useful number to move block, there seems to be a concensus here at the hive on that (which I also agree with). And at 50 ppm, there damage output is much too low, even as kronos, so the only really good reason to take any currently, is to move block your opponent.

I just want to make sure we agree on something. Biovores need line of sight right? I know indirect fire means missing. But back in the day they where not like that I think.

I just want to make sure we agree on something. Biovores need line of sight right? I know indirect fire means missing. But back in the day they where not like that I think.

Where is that? Last time I used them it did not say that in the app. And the I checked the book. And then I asked my opponent if I could move it, because I was shure it did not need line of sight, but I could not find it.

It's there in the codex. Page 101 under abilities: spore mine launcher. Last sentence on the lower right hand side of the datasheet.

How many biovores you consider minimum if I want to use them? In 1,5k ish lists?

hmmm dunno. 300 pts just to block movement? It's not like doing an avg of 1 mortal wound per 100 pts is a good deal.

I would still only play a single biovore of kronos just to be able to use the anti-psyker strat on the dropped mine.

Minimum? Zero. You don’t have to take biovores in any list.

The question you should be asking is how many biovores do I need to achieve the desired effect? That and if the cost of those biovores is a efficient use of points based on what they achieve.

I've played a single game, using 9 Biovores. They aren't worth 50ppm, and I was stomped in my game. Impulsors and flying characters ignore them and Wulfen using the mines as slingshots to get faster into my lines, ugh was a train wreck.
